On the afternoon of August 15, the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City coordinated with the Vietnam - Korea University of Information and Communications Technology (VKU) - Da Nang University, and IEG Global Joint Stock Company to organize the opening ceremony of the 25th International Mathematics Competition - VIMC 2025.

VIMC 2025 is not only a place for contestants to demonstrate their talents and abilities, but also to foster international friendships, leaving behind memories and bonds that transcend borders.
VIMC 2025 is organized according to the international standards of IMC (International Mathematics Competition), an annual competition held in rotation in member countries, for high school students with excellent math skills from more than 30 countries and territories.
This is one of the most prestigious competitions, not only a place to compete in knowledge but also a useful international playground, encouraging mathematical talents to compete, create and expand research.
This year, the exam attracted 526 candidates, 181 teachers, and 100 international guests from 30 countries and territories, divided into 2 groups: Key Stage II (for students in grades 5-6) and Key Stage III (for students in grades 7-8).
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of Da Nang City People's Committee Tran Anh Tuan affirmed that IMC is an opportunity for students from different countries to exchange, learn, share experiences and explore different cultures.

Ms. Le Thi Bich Thuan, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City, Head of the exam organizing committee, said that mathematics is not only the science of numbers and formulas but also the common language of humanity, helping people understand the world more deeply, connecting intelligence, opening up creative solutions for the future. In the context of globalization and the application of artificial intelligence (AI), the ability to think mathematically, think logically, and cooperate internationally becomes more important than ever.

VIMC 2025 will last until August 19. Each contestant will go through two mandatory rounds, including individual and team. The exam questions will be selected from proposals sent by the national expert panels, then the International Organizing Committee (coordinated by Chiu Chang Foundation) will review, compile and agree to release the official set of questions.
In the individual round, the EMIC board consists of 15 questions with a maximum score of 150, and the test time is 90 minutes; the IWYMIC board also consists of 15 questions, with a maximum score of 120, and the test time is 120 minutes. The team round has 4 contestants working together to solve 10 problems in 70 minutes, with a maximum score of 400.

Notable Awards
The competition awards are given at all three levels: individual, team, and group. In the individual category, contestants can receive gold, silver, bronze medals or certificates of encouragement in the ratio of 1: 2: 3: 4.
The group prize is based on the highest total score of 3 out of 4 team members; if there is a tie, the fourth member factor and the decision of the Academic Council will be the deciding criteria. For the team prize, the ranking is based on the total score of the entire team, in case of a tie, the score of the most difficult question will be considered.
The Grand Prize is calculated from the total score of both rounds, with a maximum of 1,000 points for the EMIC category and 880 points for the IWYMIC category; there are also second and third prizes. If teams have the same score, the priority criteria is the team round score, followed by the most difficult question score. In addition, the 6 teams with the best, most creative performances and leaving the best impression at the cultural night will be awarded special prizes.
