People in La Hien commune are preparing to enter the custard apple harvest season, with productivity expected to increase by about 20-30% compared to last year. |
Hien Minh is the hamlet that grows the most custard apples in La Hien commune. The whole hamlet has nearly 200 households, most of whom grow custard apples. Small households have a few sao, large households have 2-3 mau, some grow up to 1 hectare.
Ms. Trieu Thi Luyen, a resident in the village, said: This season, the custard apple trees bear fruit regularly. In the past, whether the crop was good or bad was due to the weather, people just let nature take its course. Now it is different, we are guided to apply science and technology to prune branches, fertilize trees to grow well, and pollinate so that the custard apples bear fruit as desired.
With trees that bear few fruits, people proactively prune and treat the buds in the trunk to continue flowering and fruiting for the next crop. Thanks to that, people can proactively control the number of fruits and fruit batches on each tree...
In fact, La Hien custard apple has affirmed its position in the agricultural market, and is trusted by consumers every season. Grown on mountain slopes and rocky valleys with special climate and soil conditions, La Hien custard apple always has superior quality, and is the pride of growers.
Having been a daughter-in-law and grown custard apples for more than 20 years on Hien Minh land, Ms. Luyen could not hide her pride: I believe that after the merger, La Hien custard apple products will be known even more. Of course, to do that, people must always determine to keep their hearts and "trust", aiming for "clean" production to improve product quality, meeting consumer needs.
Many custard apple growers in La Hien have proactively applied safe, organic, and VietGAP production processes. At the same time, digital technology is applied to product consumption through livestream sales and product promotion on social networking platforms such as Zalo, Facebook, etc.
Accompanying and supporting people to consume products, in the past 5 years, the Department of Industry and Trade has actively coordinated with specialized departments and branches to deploy connections, bringing products into the supply chain of supermarket systems and commercial centers in and outside the province. At the same time, it advises and supports people and cooperatives on the system of origin traceability stamps, participates in fairs, exhibitions, conferences and seminars. In particular, it promotes the application of digital transformation in trade promotion to bring custard apples and agricultural products to e-commerce trading floors.
Mr. Tran Duc Tu, Vice Chairman of La Hien Commune People's Committee, said: Although there was a drought at the beginning of the year, people have overcome it, taken good care of custard apple trees and the yield has certainly increased sharply. The local Party Committee and government have coordinated with the Thai Nguyen Provincial Trade Promotion Center to discuss a plan to organize a custard apple festival to promote the product and sell custard apples to the people.
Each custard apple garden in La Hien is a "green dream", where people are busy preparing for the new harvest, sending sweet fruits to the market with full confidence. Not only is it a land of specialties, La Hien is also a symbol of diligence, creativity and aspiration of the people of the highlands of Thai Nguyen.
