Lai Chau: Organizing the 2nd provincial-level Independence Day with many special activities

From August 30 to September 2, 2025, Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee will organize the 2025 Independence Day in Than Uyen commune at the provincial level, in conjunction with the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day September 2. This is the second year the event has been held at the provincial level, continuing the Independence Day tradition that has been maintained in Than Uyen district since 2012 and has become a typical cultural feature of the Northwest region.

This year, the series of Independence Day events will take place in the communes of Than Uyen, Muong Kim, Khoen On, and Muong Than. The highlight is the KOMOMO Than Uyen 2025 International Run, which gathers a large number of domestic and foreign athletes. In addition, there are community activities such as Nam Pat fair, "Non nuoc Khoen On" festival, "Huong sac Muong Than" festival - where visitors can immerse themselves in a unique cultural space with night markets, ethnic sports, folk games, traditional culinary competitions of ethnic groups, banh giay pounding competition, ethnic fashion shows, bathing experiences, and traditional Dao herbal foot soaking...

Many traditional and meaningful activities were also held such as the Martyrs' Cemetery Visit Ceremony, the Incense Offering Ceremony at Ban Luot Historical Site, and the Flag Raising Ceremony to celebrate National Day September 2. Thereby, upholding the tradition of "remembering the source of water when drinking", "repaying gratitude", educating the tradition of patriotism and national pride for the younger generation.

At the center of Than Uyen commune   and ancillary spaces,   Many activities take place throughout the 4-day holiday. Visitors will be able to visit the exhibition space of OCOP products and typical local agricultural products;   motorized paragliding;   Display of books, newspapers, geographical documents; art photo exhibition "Fragrance and beauty of Lai Chau ";   experience folk games and   participate in cultural exchange activities of 4 ethnic groups: Thai, Mong, Dao, Kho Mu.

On the evening of September 1, the Art Program to celebrate Independence Day and the Solidarity Dance will be held at Than Uyen Commune Stadium, gathering a large number of artisans, artists, professional and non-professional actors, along with the participation of delegates, people and tourists. On the morning of September 2, the traditional swallow-tail boat race on Than Uyen Lake will take place, before closing the event with a Closing Ceremony at Than Uyen Commune Center.

During the event, visitors can explore many attractive destinations of Than Uyen such as pine hill in zone 7, Love Hill in zone 9, Pa Khom bay, Tham Phe fishing village, Sang Nga village water wheel... creating unique eco-community tourism experiences.

As expected, the 2025 Independence Day will welcome more than 800 delegates, artists, athletes, reporters, businesses and domestic and international tourists. This is an opportunity for Lai Chau to promote communications, promote its potential, strengths and typical tourism products to domestic and foreign tourists; at the same time, aiming to build the Independence Day into a typical cultural tourism product of the locality, contributing to promoting socio-economic development and preserving traditional cultural values.
