Overnight investment interest rates fell the most last week

In the week from March 18 to 22, the average interbank interest rates of most terms decreased compared to the previous week. Of which, the overnight investment interest rate decreased the most by 0.92%, the 1-week term decreased by 0.85%.

Information from the State Bank shows that the exchange rate tends to increase slightly. On March 18, the USD/VND buying and selling rates listed at the end of the day on the website of the Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam were 24,560/24,880 VND/USD, up and down 10 VND/USD compared to the exchange rate at the end of the previous working day of the weekend (March 15).

At the end of March 22, the listed exchange rate was at 24,610/24,950 VND/USD, up 50 and 70 VND/USD respectively compared to the exchange rate on March 22.

In the interbank market, according to reports from credit institutions and foreign bank branches, the transaction turnover in the interbank market in VND during the period reached approximately VND 1,310,584 billion, an average of VND 262,117 billion/day, a decrease of VND 14,238 billion/day compared to the previous week. The transaction turnover in USD converted to VND during the week reached approximately VND 239,695 billion, an average of VND 47,939 billion/day, a decrease of VND 11,945 billion/day compared to the previous week.

By maturity, VND transactions mainly focus on overnight terms (85% of total VND transaction turnover), 1-week terms (5% of total VND transaction turnover) and 2-week terms (4% of total transaction turnover).

For USD trading, overnight investment tenors accounted for 68% of total trading volume, 1-week tenors accounted for 19% of total trading volume and 2-week tenors accounted for 10% of total trading volume.

Regarding interest rates, for transactions in VND, the average interbank interest rates of most terms decreased compared to last week. Of which, the overnight investment interest rate had the sharpest decrease of 0.92%, followed by the 1-week term with a decrease of 0.85%.

For USD transactions, most tenors increased compared to last week. The average tenor of 3 months increased the most by 0.41% and the average tenor of 1 month increased the least by 0.01%.
