Mastering the technology of raising yellowfin pompano at sea

After a period of receiving the process and raising yellowfin pomfret, up to now, the Project of applying scientific and technological advances to build a model of seed production and commercial farming of yellowfin pomfret in Phu Yen, chaired by the Golden Shrimp Seafood Joint Stock Company (Tuy Hoa City), has mastered the technology of seeding and farming yellowfin pomfret, a specialty fish with high economic value, opening up the direction of industrial farming using HDPE cages in the province's sea areas.

This is a project under the Rural Mountainous Area Program, with a total implementation cost of 10 billion VND, of which the central science and technology budget supports more than 4.1 billion VND, the rest is counterpart capital from enterprises.

The project's goal is to successfully apply scientific and technological advances, build a model for producing yellowfin pompano breeds and a model for commercial farming in cages using Norwegian technology for export in Phu Yen.

At the same time, the project successfully received the process of producing seeds and commercial farming of yellowfin pompano in cages using Norwegian technology; trained 7 technicians in producing seeds and commercial farming of yellowfin pompano on an industrial scale; trained 100 households to promote the development of the movement of raising marine fish in offshore areas in line with the province's aquaculture orientation. At the same time, the project built a model of producing yellowfin pompano from fertilized eggs to fry, fingerlings, and fingerlings to produce quality fingerlings, with a capacity of 1.2 million fingerlings/year.

In addition, the project builds a model for raising yellowfin pompano, including: 6 HDPE cages for raising fingerlings from 6-7cm to 8-10cm for commercial farming; 4 cages made of HDPE plastic using Norwegian technology for automatic fish feeding, with an average yield of 30 tons/crop.

This project will open a new direction, helping farmers develop sustainably, limit environmental pollution and reduce risks for fishermen, limit diseases, create clean products with clear origins for consumption and export. At the same time, the project also aims to diversify marine farming objects and open up a development direction towards industrial farming in the province; contribute to promoting the efficiency of water surface, creating jobs, increasing income for fishermen and creating quality, safe products to serve domestic and export needs.
