According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province, there are 526 reservoirs in the area, including: 97 large reservoirs, 204 medium reservoirs, 206 small reservoirs. In addition, some irrigation works were built a long time ago, the documents were lost so there are no technical parameters for implementation.
Currently, enterprises manage 287 reservoirs, of which 11 have hydraulic gates, in addition to 24 other small gates. Local irrigation management organizations manage 195 reservoirs. Private organizations manage 44 reservoirs, of which 1 has a gate.

Recently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province has issued many plans and documents directing and urging localities and units to strengthen the implementation of contents on ensuring the safety of dams and irrigation reservoirs according to regulations.
To date, the province has approved maintenance procedures for 277 projects. In addition, some irrigation projects have been built for a long time and their records have been lost, so there are no technical parameters for implementation, causing difficulties in operation and implementation of regulations on dam safety management.

Besides, management and operation units are still confused in the implementation process because the maintenance process has many contents that are not guided in specific technical standards, and implementation for large projects is still complicated.
In some cases, it is necessary to conduct quality inspection as a basis for establishing and adjusting maintenance procedures, but the implementation costs do not meet the requirements.

According to the provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, there are currently 148 damaged and degraded works in many different categories that need funding for timely upgrading and major repairs to ensure safety for the works and downstream areas. Although the units managing and operating the works have proactively allocated funding for maintenance and repair, only small items have been implemented due to limited funding.

Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of the province has consulted and proposed competent authorities to consider allocating funds to promptly upgrade and repair these works, however, up to now, only a few works have been allocated funds for implementation.
