On the afternoon of June 18, Lam Dong People's Committee issued an urgent document to relevant departments and agencies to take measures to prevent landslides and ensure labor safety during construction of works and projects in the province. This move was made by the government after a landslide occurred during the construction of the Prenn Pass expansion, killing two workers.
According to Lam Dong People's Committee, the weather situation is complicated, with heavy rain. Meanwhile, the province's localities have mountainous terrain, steep slopes, and many ravines with unstable geological structures, causing the risk of landslides. Therefore, units must absolutely not be subjective, ensuring that no work accidents occur, affecting the lives of workers in construction sites and people.
In addition to the projects under construction, the province also requires specialized units to review residential areas living on steep hills, slopes with high risk of landslides, and low-lying areas. At the same time, the authorities must request investors and construction units to stop construction of projects with risks of labor safety or in cases where investors do not strictly implement safety measures according to regulations.
Previously, VietNamNet reported that on June 17, during the construction of upgrading and expanding Prenn Pass in Da Lat City, a large block of earth collapsed, killing two workers. The Prenn Pass is more than 7km long and is being upgraded and expanded with a total investment of 550 billion VND.
The project is invested by Lam Dong Provincial Traffic Project Management Board. The joint venture of Deo Ca Traffic Infrastructure Investment Joint Stock Company (HHV) - Deo Ca Construction Joint Stock Company (DCC) is the winning contractor.
In addition, on the night of June 17, in Bao Loc city, a landslide occurred, killing one person and injuring several others.
