On the morning of March 15, in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Photographic Artists Association (LSA) I and II held a ceremony to celebrate the 71st anniversary of Vietnam Photography Traditional Day (March 15, 1953 - March 15, 2024).
Attending the ceremony were Poet Thanh Duong Hong - Chairman of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association, Mr. Phan Van Cuong - Vice Chairman of Bao Loc City People's Committee, along with the participation of leaders of Bao Loc City Literature and Arts Association, members of NSNA Association I and II.
At the ceremony, delegates and members reviewed the 71-year tradition of Vietnamese photography, the tradition of Lam Dong province photography. It can be seen that Lam Dong photography over the past 37 years has been divided into 4 stages: From 1986 - 1994, the Photography Association was initially formed with 6 members, with the core being veteran photographers such as the late artist Bui A, journalist Vo Tran Phu, and architect Tran Duc Loc. During this period, members operated according to the criteria of the Vietnam Photographers Association, focusing on journalism and propaganda.
From 1994 to 1998, this period began to form photography groups passionate about art photography in Da Lat City and Bao Loc Town. The burning passion for art photography created the premise for the establishment of the Da Lat Photo Group in August 1994, gathering nearly 20 members, led by NSNA Tran Ngoc Hiep. From here, the path of creation, exchange activities, and art photography exhibitions with photography groups in the province and other provinces and cities were organized regularly.
From 1999 to 2012, this was the "explosive" period of Da Lat photography, Lam Dong photography with the establishment of Lam Dong Photographers Association with 7 members. Da Lat and Bao Loc Photographers Clubs expanded their works to almost all provinces and cities in the country. Many members have won many awards in exhibitions and photo contests domestically and internationally.
By the end of 2008, Lam Dong Association of Vietnamese Artists had 17 members. Due to the conditions of the members in Bao Loc City, Lam Dong Association of Vietnamese Artists was divided into 2 branches: Association of Vietnamese Artists I and Association of Vietnamese Artists II.
This is the period marking the breakthrough and prominence of artists Ly Hoang Long, Nguyen Ba Trung, Nguyen Ba Nhan, Nguyen Ba Hao, Pham Phuoc, Vu Thi Tinh, Nguyen Dinh Hien, Nguyen Phuc Loc, Nguyen Thanh Liem...
From 2013 to present, Lam Dong Artists Association I and II have created works following the activities of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association such as creative camps; participating in photo festivals, and creating works in specialized photography congresses.
Members regularly attend photo exhibitions such as the Dalat Flower Festival, commemorating the formation and development of Dalat City.
Up to now, Lam Dong Photographers Association I and II have a total of 20 members of the Vietnam Photographers Association. From 2009 to now, through 3 National Congresses of Vietnam Photography, Lam Dong photography has always had members in the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Photographers Association.
In the 2014 - 2020 term, Artist Ly Hoang Long was a member of the Executive Committee and Chairman of the Art Council. At the National Photography Congress for the 2020 - 2025 term, Artist Nguyen Van Thuong was elected to the Executive Committee.
Leaders of the Provincial Literature and Arts Association and leaders of Bao Loc City highly appreciated the results that the Association of Fine Arts and Literature I and II have achieved in the recent past. Through the works of art of the Fine Arts and Literature Association, they have contributed to promoting and introducing the image of Lam Dong province, districts and cities in the area to friends and tourists at home and abroad.
In the coming time, we hope that the artists will continue to have more works about the achievements in the socio -economic fields of the province, building new rural areas, civilized urban areas, good people and good deeds; homeland landscapes; and the good traditional culture of ethnic groups living together in harmony in the area.
At the ceremony, the photographers discussed some difficulties in the creative process, creative themes, and improving the quality of their works. The Photographers Association also presented the decision to admit the Vietnam Photographers Association to Photographer Vo Dinh Quyt; and awarded the Medal for the Development of Vietnamese Photographic Art to Photographer Nguyen Ba Trung (Lam Dong Photographers Association I) for his many contributions to the Vietnamese photographic art.
On the same day, members of Lam Dong Artists Association Branch I and II participated in composing works in Bao Lam district.
