After the MV “I do – Em dong y” by Duc Phuc and the band 911, along with the recent sensational proposal by his businessman boyfriend to runner-up Phuong Anh, Cau Hon and the town of Hoang Hon continue to be in the sights of young people and are sought-after destinations during the long holiday of April 30-May 1 this year.
“As if coming out of a fantasy movie, Cau Hon is not a simple bridge across the sea, it is a sculpture with an almost surreal beauty” – Ms. Pham Thuy (District 1, Ho Chi Minh City) expressed. Located right in the center of Hoang Hon town (An Thoi, Phu Quoc), Cau Hon is considered the most anticipated architectural work in Phu Quoc with unique values in terms of structure, materials, design style and the cultural story it conveys. Right from when it was first conceived on the drawing board, Italian architect Marco Casamonti exclaimed: “This will be the bridge of dreams”.
The structure of the bridge is almost a “challenge” to the imagination, when the two 400m long branches of the bridge softly stretch out to meet in the middle of the sky, and are 30cm apart – a distance just enough for two people to touch and kiss each other. Hoang Nam (21 years old – Hanoi ) shared: “The two branches of the bridge are both like soft silk strips and like a spaceship landing from a strange planet. From another perspective, the two bridge tips look like two dolphins in a dance of love. It can be said that the architecture of this bridge really stimulates people’s imagination and creativity”.
According to the architects of Cau Hon, what makes the bridge different is not only because it is meticulously constructed, with special imported materials to achieve lasting beauty in the harsh marine environment, and the precision down to every centimeter in the fabrication so that the two branches of the bridge are almost perfectly balanced, with the most beautiful falling point for the sunset moment. The "unique" bridge is also because it has a soul, it tells the story of love, of the connection between people and people, people and the universe. This is a bridge born to honor people, and honor the most beautiful moments of Phu Quoc, of the subjects standing on it.
If the Kissing Proposal is a work of art, then Sunset Town is a "giant art museum", where every architectural work, every wall or every road around this town is a work of art.
Walking around town, visitors will encounter many colorful walls with 9-layer antique paint theming technique, statues with bold ancient Roman colors, giant reliefs with classical Greco style on sandstone, made by Vietnamese sculptors, or murals telling ancient Vietnamese stories in the language of unique world culture.
Sunset Town is reminiscent of famous coastal cities around the world. Visitors can see a bit of the famous town of Sorrento in Italy, with its long Amalfi Coast and impressive rows of colorful houses, or a bit of Santorini - the island located on the remnants of a beautiful arc-shaped volcano in the southern Aegean Sea with rows of white houses, blue domes and many ancient ruins.
“But Hoang Hon town is Phu Quoc’s own town, with its own story” – the architects of this project said. The localized features of this town can be seen in the sunshade eaves, the green gardens full of flowers and grass, or the smaller windows compared to those usually seen in ancient towns abroad to suit the weather in Vietnam. More importantly, in this town, there are many works of art containing the heritage of Vietnamese culture, such as the relief retelling the epic poem Dam San, or the murals recreating folk culture in familiar paintings such as Hung Dua, Mi Chau Trong Thuy…
With the Kissing Bridge born to become a symbol located in the center of the town, Sunset Town deserves to be considered a giant “art museum” for the first time in Vietnam, where architectural works with the appearance of sculptures are displayed. Each architectural work here is a work of art specifically tailored for the town, carrying its own story and attached to the general context of a city of love and art.
On holidays and Tet, people see the streets bright and vibrant with performances from international dancers and artists, or high-class fashion shows like Fashion Voyage. Every day, Kiss The Stars - the largest multimedia show on the sea screen in Asia, tells visitors a romantic love story through the art of light, fire and water.
When the Wedding Bridge is officially inaugurated, its surreal beauty will turn this place into a meeting place for world-class shows, and Sunset Town will become a mecca for art parties.
