A truck driver lost control of his truck and crashed into a parked plane at Heathrow Airport in the UK. The cause of the accident is believed to have been the driver mistakenly pressing the accelerator instead of the brake.
The incident occurred at 2:54 p.m. (local time) on May 28, causing the fuselage of the Boeing 787-9 owned by Saudia Airlines (the national airline of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia) to be punctured, leading to a serious incident and causing a long delay.

The incident occurred just minutes after passengers on flight SVA105 from King Abdulaziz International Airport (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia) had just left the plane at Terminal 4 of Heathrow Airport (UK).
Baggage handlers at the scene said the driver mistook the brake pedal for the accelerator, causing the car to crash straight into the plane.
"The driver was probably performing a mandatory safety maneuver. He had to brake several times when approaching the plane. They have a procedure that requires the car to stop several times when moving towards the plane. I think he mistook the accelerator for the brake pedal, which is why he crashed straight into the fuselage near position 414," a witness said.
Although the damage did not appear to be large from the outside, it actually penetrated the fuselage. Aviation experts considered this a serious incident.
Firefighters and police were immediately on the scene.
"Even a small technical error would force relevant forces to come to the scene, so the incident was handled as a major aviation incident," said an aviation employee.
The Boeing 787-9 was severely damaged and will not be able to take off in the near future because it needs to have components replaced and be completely airtight before flying again.
The next Saudia flight from Heathrow to Jeddah was cancelled, while passengers on the original flight faced longer waits to retrieve their luggage.
A baggage handler said the extent of the damage inside the plane was unknown, but ABM (the truck operator) would be held responsible for the incident.
According to this person, it took more than an hour for the staff to remove the truck from the accident site because the authorities had to take photos of the scene and take statements from the parties involved.
"This is a very rare case. Some of us have more than 15 years of experience handling luggage, but no one has ever witnessed a similar incident," said a witness at the airport.
ABM and Saudia Airlines have not yet made official comments on the incident.
