This decision was made to ensure absolute safety for visitors and construction units, while contributing to speeding up the progress, techniques and quality of the project during the restoration and embellishment of the monument. After the above time, visiting the Flagpole will return to normal.
Lung Cu National Flagpole is located in Lung Cu commune, Dong Van district, Ha Giang province at an altitude of nearly 1,500m above sea level and about 3km from the northernmost point of Vietnam.
According to historical records, Lung Cu Flagpole originated from the Ly Dynasty, associated with the event of Thai Uy Ly Thuong Kiet marching to defend the border and planting the flag to affirm national sovereignty on the top of Dragon Mountain.
The current flagpole is modeled after the Hanoi Flagpole, with a height of 34.85m. The flag hanging on the top has an area of 54m2, symbolizing the unity and harmony of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam.
Lung Cu Flagpole is a famous tourist destination, attracting many tourists to visit and take souvenir photos when coming to Ha Giang. In 2009, Lung Cu Flagpole was ranked as a National Historical Relic and Scenic Spot by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
