Flight VN641 with 161 passengers, operated by Airbus A321 aircraft, marked the opening of the direct flight route from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali, departing from Tan Son Nhat International Airport at 10:25 a.m. on June 1 and landing at Ngurah Rai International Airport in Denpasar - the tourist capital of Bali Island, Indonesia at 3:00 p.m. the same day.
On the occasion of the opening of the new route, Vietnam Airlines organized welcoming activities at both airports and gave souvenirs to passengers on the first flight.
According to the plan, in the first phase, Vietnam Airlines will operate direct flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali with a frequency of 4 round trips per week, on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. From July 2025, the frequency will be increased to 7 flights/week to meet increasing market demand.
The Ho Chi Minh City - Bali route is Vietnam Airlines' second destination in Indonesia after the Hanoi - Jakarta route.
Opening a flight route to Bali is a strategic move by the airline to expand its flight network in Southeast Asia, while meeting the growing demand of tourists between the two countries.
The launch of the direct flight route from Ho Chi Minh City to Bali not only helps Vietnam Airlines expand its flight network in Southeast Asia, but also contributes to effectively exploiting the potential of the passenger market between Vietnam and Indonesia - which is recovering strongly after the pandemic.
The opening of the Ho Chi Minh City - Bali direct flight, which coincides with the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Vietnam and Indonesia, also has important diplomatic significance in the context of the two countries strongly promoting trade, investment and cultural exchange cooperation.
