Spreading the unique cultural values of ethnic minorities with a population of less than 10,000 people

The first Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people with the theme "Preserving, promoting and spreading the traditional cultural identity of ethnic groups with very small populations" will take place from November 3-5 in Lai Chau city, Lai Chau province.

This is the first time the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has coordinated with the People's Committee of Lai Chau province to organize this event. Ethnic minorities with a population of less than 10,000 from 11 provinces (Lai Chau, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Dien Bien, Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Yen Bai, Tuyen Quang, Nghe An, Quang Binh and Kon Tum ) will participate in the Festival.

The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on the evening of November 3, at the People's Square of Lai Chau province, and will be broadcast live on Vietnam Television (VTV2) and Voice of Vietnam . According to Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Trinh Thi Thuy, the opening ceremony aims to highlight the traditional cultural values of ethnic groups with less than 10,000 people, with the participation of mass actors who are ethnic minorities, honoring folk songs and dances.

In fact, the culture of ethnic minorities with a population of less than 10,000 people is in dire need of support measures to preserve and promote. The participation of ethnic minorities is also a practical solution, encouraging and motivating ethnic minorities to practice culture in the community.

The organizers also agreed that the cultural subjects will introduce the beauty and typical values of their nation not only in the opening ceremony but also in all activities such as mass art festivals, festival excerpts, culinary culture, sports competitions, exhibitions, etc.

Within the framework of the Festival, there are many attractive activities such as performances, introduction of festival excerpts, traditional cultural rituals of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people. Along with that is the Mass Arts Festival with folk songs, folk dances, and ethnic music programs with unique features of each locality; combined with performances of traditional costumes of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people (everyday costumes, festivals, weddings).

The exhibition "Cultural characteristics of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people in the cultural community of Vietnamese ethnic groups" aims to introduce the traditional culture of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people (villages, houses, economic activities, traditional occupations, costumes, life cycle rituals, folk festivals). Displaying and introducing costumes and patterns on traditional costumes of 14 ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people.

In addition, there is also a Famtrip program to survey and connect domestic travel businesses; 3 northern provinces of Laos (Phong Sa Ly, U Dom Xay and Luang Prabang) and Hong Ha Chau, Yunnan province, China; Seminar to evaluate the ability to exploit and develop tourism products of Lai Chau province...

The Cultural Festival of ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 aims to honor and promote the identity of ethnic groups with very few people, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism, national pride, and strengthening the strength of the great solidarity of ethnic groups. This is an opportunity to introduce and promote to domestic and international friends the potential and strengths of developing culture, sports, tourism, and traditional culture of ethnic groups in the process of innovation, integration and development, especially ethnic groups with a population of less than 10,000 people...

The activities of the Festival contribute to raising awareness and responsibility of society in preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the 54 ethnic groups in Vietnam; protecting and promoting traditional culture, contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture with strong national identity, meeting the requirements of sustainable national development according to Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW, Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party and the National Cultural Conference in 2021.
