From October 17-20, Ambassador Nguyen Luong Ngoc and the Embassy delegation had a working trip to Esfahan province, met with Provincial Governor Mehdi Jamalinejad, Mayor of Esfahan city Ali Ghasemzadeh, Chairman of Esfahan Chamber of Commerce, Mines, Industry and Agriculture , chaired the Vietnam - Esfahan Business Forum (online with Hanoi) with the participation of nearly 120 Vietnamese and Iranian enterprises, and visited the Esfahan Exhibition Center.
Provincial officials all admired and appreciated the indomitable fighting spirit and will of the Vietnamese people during the resistance war against foreign invaders, and were also impressed by the outstanding achievements and the spirit of rising up and dynamism of Vietnam in national development today.
Through the discussion, the Embassy and the province agreed on a number of very specific and feasible measures and programs such as plans to participate in tourism events, film festivals, cultural events, trade fairs between the two countries, delegation exchanges, the possibility of establishing a twinning relationship between Esfahan and Vietnamese provinces, and removing difficulties for businesses of the two countries.
The delegation also had a field visit to Esfahan Science and Technology City (ISTT), a facility covering an area of over 520 hectares with more than 700 knowledge-based companies and 10,000 employees (the largest in Iran), of which 10% are AI companies.
The city was established with the aim of providing an innovation incubator with preferential policies similar to free trade zones to promote innovation and competitiveness of knowledge-based companies in the fields of AI, biotechnology, computer science, energy, information and communication technology, manufacturing and automation...
The Embassy and ISTT agreed to organize online conferences on promoting cooperation and import and export of science and technology products between ISTT and Vietnamese organizations and enterprises.
The delegation also visited and paid tribute at the tomb of Alexandre de Rhodes - one of the people who made great contributions to the invention and development of the Vietnamese national script since the 17th century.
Only 450km from the capital Tehran by highway, nicknamed “Esfahan nesf-e jahan” (half the world), Esfahan is the third largest city in Iran, a long-standing cultural center, a center of handicrafts of Iran and the world.

With more than 2,000 years of history, Esfahan has been chosen as the capital of Iran four times, with six world heritage sites recognized by UNESCO. Naqsh-e Jahan Square, which belonged to the reign of King Shah Abbas, is still preserved intact to this day - one of the largest squares in the world (nearly 90,000 m2 ).
Esfahan today is located in the center of Iran and continues to maintain its position as one of the leading economic centers of Iran and has strengths in the fields of energy, petrochemicals, chemicals, minerals, agriculture, food, tourism and possesses a strategic central location.
Esfahan is also one of Iran's leading centers for science and technology, innovation and building a knowledge-based economy. Top educational institutions such as Esfahan University and Esfahan University of Technology attract more than 50,000 students, training talents in the fields of engineering, science and arts.
In 2025, Esfahan was elected as Asian Tourist City.
Here, many people of different religions live together peacefully such as Judaism, Islam... especially the Armenian Christian community that has settled here for 400 years, to this day there are still 8,000 residents with 13 Christian churches, actively contributing to the development of Esfahan.
