Promoting the heritage values ​​of the scholar Nguyen Binh Khiem.

The Hai Phong Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with the Institute of Literature under the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences, recently organized a scientific conference titled "The Legacy of Trạng Trình Nguyễn Bỉnh Khiêm from a Modern Perspective".

The workshop aims to comprehensively and systematically research and evaluate the content, ideology, philosophy, enlightenment spirit, art and great values ​​in literature, aesthetics, humanity, education, peace ideals, and international influence from the legacy of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem.

This is an important event that helps supplement the scientific basis for the construction of a dossier to propose UNESCO to honor Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem on the occasion of the 450th anniversary of his death (1585-2035).

At the workshop, the city leaders hoped that scientists and experts would focus on systematizing new information, discoveries and interpretations about Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​life, career, political - social - educational views; clarifying the issue of textual studies and the literary - historical - philosophical nature in his works.

Through that, it suggests new directions and important orientations for the research, protection and promotion of the heritage values ​​of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem in the future.

The Organizing Committee of the Conference received 59 reports from scientists, managers, and lecturers from many agencies and units nationwide.

The discussions focused on four contents: The issue of Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​original writings; Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​thoughts from a modern perspective; The textual - historical - philosophical consistency through Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​writings; Receiving Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​legacy in the context of contemporary culture.

The workshop comprehensively evaluated the system of ideology, philosophy, enlightenment spirit, and the great values ​​of literature, aesthetics, humanity, education, peace ideals, and international influence of Nguyen Binh Khiem's ​​legacy.

From there, affirming the outstanding values ​​and great contributions of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem and his legacy to the nation's history, having influence in many fields of politics, culture and society; suggesting new directions, important orientations for research, protection and promotion of the heritage values ​​of Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem in the future.

Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem was born in 1491 and died in 1585. He was an outstanding son of Trung Am village, Vinh Lai district (now Nguyen Binh Khiem commune, Hai Phong city). He was one of the outstanding celebrities of the 16th century, a talented scholar with outstanding contributions in the fields of politics, ideology, education and literature.

Trang Trinh Nguyen Binh Khiem not only left to posterity a huge treasure of Han Nom poetry and literature, but also a legacy of wise thoughts with timeless value. He is considered the embodiment of Vietnamese wisdom and morality, a person who combines the quintessence of scholarly learning with folk knowledge, expressed in his works, prophecies, teachings, anecdotes and the cultural and religious life of the people.
