Vietnam and Bloomberg strengthen media cooperation to promote the image of Vietnam.

On the afternoon of December 9, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Headquarters, Deputy Foreign Minister Le Thi Thu Hang received Mr. John Fraher, Bloomberg's Senior Executive Editor in charge of the Asia-Pacific region, on the occasion of his visit and work in Vietnam.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang welcomed Mr. John Fraher to Vietnam; and highly appreciated Bloomberg's contributions to Vietnam-US relations since establishing its Hanoi bureau in 2001 through disseminating information on Vietnam's socio-economic development, especially political and diplomatic activities and international events in Vietnam such as APEC 2006 and 2017.

Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang briefed Mr. John Fraher on Vietnam's development situation, emphasizing positive changes in recent times such as the reorganization of provincial-level administrative units and the establishment of a two-tiered local government system, the restructuring and continued development of a streamlined, effective, and efficient state administrative apparatus... aiming to create new impetus for rapid and sustainable growth in the future. Regarding foreign relations, Vietnam continues to promote relations with other countries on the basis of balanced interests, shifting from a give-and-take relationship to a mutually beneficial partnership, which has been recognized and highly appreciated by international partners. In particular, in 2026, Vietnam will host the 14th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the most important political event of the country, marking the beginning of a new era of development.

The Deputy Minister expressed his hope that Bloomberg, as one of the most reputable media outlets in the United States, would continue to contribute to promoting the Vietnam-US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries, and deepening multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.

Since Bloomberg opened its permanent office in Vietnam in 2001, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant agencies and localities have always supported Bloomberg. Affirming that Vietnam always creates favorable conditions for foreign press, including Bloomberg, to operate effectively in accordance with the law, Deputy Minister Thu Hang hoped that Bloomberg would continue to pay attention to reporting vividly and objectively on Vietnam's dynamic development process, as well as Vietnam's contributions to the region.

Referring to Vietnam-US relations, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang assessed that 2025 marks 30 years of normalization and establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, with many meaningful activities, and is a time to look back on the very positive development of bilateral relations in all aspects. Deputy Minister Thu Hang requested Bloomberg, as a reputable US media organization, to continue contributing to promoting the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and the United States, enhancing understanding between the people of the two countries, and contributing to deepening multifaceted cooperation between the two nations.

Mr. John Fraher expressed his gratitude to Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang for taking the time to receive the delegation, and highly appreciated Vietnam's outstanding socio-economic development achievements in recent years. He emphasized that Vietnam continues to hold an important position in Bloomberg's regional information strategy, especially given Vietnam's sustained positive economic growth, increasingly improved business environment, and deep integration into global supply chains, trade flows, and economic activities.

Referring to Vietnam's potential development areas, Mr. John Fraher expressed particular interest in the macroeconomic outlook, investment environment, international trade trends, as well as political and foreign policy issues that attract the attention of readers and the global media. He affirmed that Bloomberg wishes to continue expanding cooperation, strengthening information exchange, and providing increasingly comprehensive, objective, and in-depth coverage of Vietnam in the future.
