On the afternoon of December 10th, the Vietnam U22 team held a training session at RBAC University Stadium (Bangkok) to prepare for their final group stage match against Malaysia U22 tomorrow.
Speaking to Vietnamese media before training, coach Kim Sang Sik said that the Vietnam U22 team had a week to prepare for the match against Malaysia U22. The team has no injuries and is very well prepared for the game.
Kim said, "Because this is an extremely important match, the whole team is maintaining very high morale to aim for the best possible result."
Assessing their opponent, U22 Malaysia, coach Kim Sang Sik said: "After watching the match between U22 Malaysia and U22 Laos, I and the coaching staff assess that U22 Malaysia is a team with excellent physical fitness and a strong playing style."
However, the Vietnam U22 team is also well-prepared physically and tactically. Through tactical meetings and diligent training, I believe we will achieve a good result in the match against Malaysia U22."

Despite having the same 3 points as U22 Malaysia, the U22 Vietnam team is ranked second in Group B due to an inferior goal difference. Therefore, Coach Kim Sang Sik's team must win against U22 Malaysia to secure a place in the semi-finals as group winners.
Kim said, "In the past few days, I have repeatedly reminded the players that tomorrow's match is not simply a group stage game. Treat it as a crucial knockout match. With that mindset, we need a win. That is the team's biggest goal."
Coach Kim Sang Sik also said he had learned from the U22 Vietnam team's opening match victory against U22 Laos, which they won 2-1.
He said: "In the match against U22 Laos, we created quite a few opportunities but couldn't convert them into many goals. However, with my team, the first few matches are usually never easy. And we will always play better with each game."
I think that through this recent victory, the players will gain more confidence to continue winning in the future."
Regarding whether the Vietnamese national team's 0-4 defeat to Malaysia in the final qualifying round of the 2027 Asian Cup serves as motivation for the U22 Vietnamese team, Coach Kim Sang Sik said: "The players feel their pride has been hurt. Therefore, they are currently preparing very well and are highly determined to get revenge on Malaysia in the upcoming match."
