The first gold medal came in the women's 500m double canoe event, when the pair of athletes Nguyen Thi Huong and Diep Thi Huong displayed outstanding form, finishing first with a considerable lead over their Thai opponents.
In taekwondo, the creative performance team consisting of athletes Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Tram Dang Khoa, Tran Ho Duy, Le Tran Kim Uyen, Nguyen Phan Khanh Han, and Nguyen Thi Y Binh brought home a valuable gold medal after defeating Thailand, Myanmar, and the Philippines with a score of 8.060.

At the SEA Games swimming competition, athlete Tran Hung Nguyen continued to demonstrate his class by winning the Gold Medal in the men's 200m individual medley, marking the beginning of the Vietnamese swimming team's goal of conquering many events at this Games.
The fourth gold medal went to pétanque, when athlete Nguyen Van Dung defeated his Indonesian opponent in the shooting final, bringing an important victory for the delegation.

Besides the four gold medals, the teams also achieved many encouraging results. In swimming, Vietnam won additional medals including: a silver medal by My Tien (women's 200m butterfly); bronze medals by Nguyen Quang Thuan (men's 200m individual medley) and Tran Van Nguyen Quoc (men's 100m freestyle). The women's 4x100m freestyle relay team, consisting of Nguyen Khai Nhi, Pham Thi Van, Vo Thi My Tien, and Nguyen Thuy Hien, also brought home a bronze medal.
Women's volleyball made its mark with a 3-0 victory over Myanmar, helping the team temporarily share the top spot in the group with Indonesia. In 3x3 basketball, the men's team defeated Laos 21-9. Chess contributed another Bronze Medal in the team blitz maruk event, thanks to the efforts of players Bao Khoa, Dao Thien Hai, Vo Thanh Ninh, and Vu Hoang Gia Bao.
Concluding the first day of competition at the 33rd SEA Games, the Vietnamese sports delegation won a total of 4 gold medals, 3 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals, creating an important foundation for continued breakthroughs in the following days of competition.
