In the trend of building a civilized, modern and sustainable working environment, the model of "Green - clean - beautiful, smoke-free office" is being strongly implemented by many agencies and units.

Medical facilities are actively implementing the smoke-free medical facility model.

Not simply a place to take care of people's health, medical facilities today are gradually becoming healthy, clean and environmentally friendly living spaces.

The model of "Smoke-free medical facilities" has been deployed synchronously in many localities across the country, not only combining professional quality with a cool, clean, green space but also contributing to improving treatment effectiveness, improving the spirit and quality of life for patients.

At Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital, in addition to investing in improving the quality of medical examination and treatment, the hospital also focuses on strictly implementing regulations on the environment and public health.

Saying “no to tobacco” is clearly demonstrated through signs, no-smoking areas and regular propaganda activities, contributing to building a clean and safe medical environment for patients, their families and medical staff.

At the same time, the Hospital has effectively implemented the management, classification and treatment of medical waste and wastewater according to standards, contributing to maintaining a clean and beautiful landscape, protecting the environment and ensuring safety in all medical examination and treatment activities.

The green space at the hospital is also well invested with a rich green tree system, miniature landscapes and relaxation areas arranged reasonably, creating a comfortable feeling, reducing stress for patients and their families during the treatment process.

Vietnam - Sweden Uong Bi Hospital also organizes many diverse health education and communication programs, aiming to encourage people to practice a healthy, environmentally friendly lifestyle, including quitting smoking. These activities not only raise public awareness but also contribute to reducing the risk of tobacco-related diseases and protecting the living environment in the long term.

Meanwhile, at Phu Tho Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, one of the leading provincial medical facilities in the Northern mountainous region, the construction of a green - clean - modern medical environment is also being implemented synchronously and effectively.

The hospital not only invests in upgrading facilities and modern medical equipment, but also pays special attention to building a friendly, natural space to enhance the healthcare experience for women and children.

In particular, the hospital has strictly implemented the "no smoking on campus" regulation, creating a safe and clean medical environment for all subjects, from pregnant women, newborns to the elderly. The hospital also focuses on implementing psychological counseling services and providing emotional support for patients and their families, helping to improve the effectiveness of treatment and comprehensive care.

At some units under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, this model is not just a slogan but has become a part of daily office life, contributing to shaping a healthy lifestyle, creating a clean, cultural and humane working space.

Since the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms officially took effect, the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography has proactively determined that building a smoke-free workplace environment is not only about complying with the law, but also about the responsibility to protect public health and maintain a civilized lifestyle in the workplace.

With that spirit, the Institute has included the no-smoking regulation in the office culture regulations, considering this one of the important criteria for annual evaluation of cadres and party members.

Along with that, the green office model is promoted by encouraging the planting of trees in offices, corridors, and headquarters grounds, creating friendly spaces close to nature, contributing to easing work pressure, while improving the quality of the working environment.

What makes the model successful is not the administrative regulations, but the change in awareness and behavior of each cadre, civil servant, public employee and worker.

Instead of coercion, the Institute chooses the form of extensive propaganda, through specialized activities, competitions to learn about the harmful effects of tobacco, discussions, signing personal commitments... so that each person clearly understands the negative impact of cigarette smoke on their own health and those around them.

From awareness to action, each staff member has gradually formed the habit of proactively saying no to cigarettes at work, giving up long-term smoking habits, contributing to building a truly healthy and safe office environment.

After a period of implementation, the model has recorded many clear results. The number of smokers in the office has decreased significantly. There is no more smoking in the office, meeting room, or hallway. The office air has become fresher and more pleasant, and the working spirit of officials and civil servants has been positively improved.

Some people used to smoke a pack of cigarettes a day, but now they have cut down to a few cigarettes, and many have decided to quit smoking completely. More importantly, quitting smoking not only benefits the individual, but also receives support and consensus from family and colleagues, which creates the most lasting and profound motivation.

Not only the Institute of Geodesy and Cartography, the National Remote Sensing Department is also a pioneer in building a smoke-free office environment.

Here, the work of preventing and combating the harmful effects of tobacco is closely linked with the criteria for building a cultural, green - clean - beautiful - safe agency.

The Department's leaders pay special attention, closely direct and integrate this content into annual activities, trade union activities, and professional activities. "No smoking" signs are solemnly hung in corridors, meeting rooms, and offices. Communication messages are presented vividly and easily accessible, thereby raising the awareness and responsibility of each officer and civil servant.

Changes in behavior have gradually become a way of life. While smoking during working hours was once common, it has now been replaced by self-awareness and respect for common spaces.

Staff are more self-aware in their actions, there is no more cigarette smoke in the offices, no more discomfort or obsession with the smell of cigarettes in long meetings. Everyone clearly sees the value of a smoke-free environment, not only good for health but also brings a sense of professionalism, modernity and civilization to the entire agency.

To maintain and replicate the model, units have been strengthening inspection and supervision work, including tobacco harm prevention in year-end competition criteria.

Collectives and individuals with good initiatives and good implementation of the model will be promptly rewarded, creating motivation to replicate the movement.

Along with that, the encouragement of staff to build "green - clean - beautiful working corners" is also promoted, aiming for a working space that is not only clean in form but also "clean" in lifestyle, thinking and behavior.

From specific, persistent and consistent actions, the model of "Green - clean - beautiful, smoke-free office" has become a new standard in office culture at units in the national surveying, mapping and remote sensing industry.

Every “No Smoking” sign hung, every tree planted, every activity organized is part of the transformation process, from awareness to action, from individual to collective, from slogan to internal culture.

According to survey results, after more than a decade of implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, the rate of exposure to secondhand smoke in medical facilities has decreased from 23.6% (in 2010) to 21.3% (in 2023); meanwhile, the rate of people receiving advice to quit smoking when coming to see a doctor or get treatment has increased sharply from 40.5% to 90%.

After 13 years of implementing the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harms, along with strong direction from the Government, support from the World Health Organization and international partners, many medical facilities in Vietnam have proactively deployed synchronous solutions such as perfecting the signage system, enhancing communication, counseling on smoking cessation, monitoring and inspection, and integrating non-smoking criteria into competition assessment.

These efforts have contributed to creating a safe, friendly treatment environment and positively influencing the behavior of patients as well as medical staff.

However, in the context of new products such as e-cigarettes and heated tobacco products increasingly penetrating young people with sophisticated marketing strategies, the fight against the harmful effects of tobacco is becoming more difficult than ever.
