Nam Giang is a mountainous district of Quang Nam province, with more than 80% of the population being ethnic minorities. In recent times, people in Nam Giang district from highland and border areas to lowland communes and towns have been willing to donate land to build projects. Thanks to that, the land donation movement has been strongly promoted and has spread widely, creating a positive effect on the people in the villages and hamlets in the area, contributing to clearly changing the appearance of the countryside here.

In Ta Bhing commune, implementing the policy of opening a road for people in A Lieng village, the commune government organized many propaganda campaigns, using many forms such as village meetings, going to each house to propagate and mobilize, thanks to that, many households saw the long-term benefits and voluntarily donated land to build roads.

The residential road in A Lieng village, Ta Bhing commune, Nam Giang district has been concreted thanks to people donating land to expand the road.

According to Mr. Blinh Chon, Secretary of the Party Cell of A Lieng village, in recent years, the Party Cell has coordinated with the commune government to organize many propaganda campaigns and integrate them into meetings, and at the same time go to each household subject to compensation and clearance to mobilize and persuade, thereby creating high consensus among the people. In particular, mobilizing party members and village elders to take the lead and set an example for the people to follow, thanks to which, in A Lieng village, more than 20 households have donated land for construction works.

Mr. BhNuoch Tieng, nearly 80 years old this year, is a party member and village elder of A Lieng village. After being propagandized and mobilized, he persuaded his wife and children to agree and voluntarily donate nearly 2,000 square meters of garden land to build a road in A Lieng village and the village cultural house. This road was previously narrow, only about 2 meters wide, and often muddy when it rained, making it difficult for people to travel and trade goods. When Ta Bhing commune had a policy of mobilizing households living along both sides of the road in A Lieng village to donate land to widen the road, Mr. Tieng donated land and participated in mobilizing households to donate land to build the road. Thanks to that, the road in A Lieng village was widened to 5 meters.

“Now that there is a big road, the villagers are very happy. Not only is the circulation of goods easier and people can travel more easily, but thanks to this road, the exchange of goods between villagers is more convenient, and the lives of villagers have also improved significantly,” Mr. Tieng shared.

Also in A Lieng village, Ta Bhing commune, the road leading to the production area of the villagers in this village was previously small and narrow, so it could only be walked on, but for nearly 2 years now, a 5m wide concrete road has been invested in. To have this road, many households in the village donated land for the project, including Mr. Zo Ram Da, a resident of A Lieng village, who donated 0.4ha to open the road. Mr. Da shared that, implementing the Party and State's policy on opening rural roads, he mobilized his family to donate land to open the road, thereby creating favorable conditions for people to expand production, making it easier to go to work and transport agricultural products.

According to Mr. Briu A Binh, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Ta Bhing commune, in recent years, implementing the movement to build new rural areas, in addition to the hard criteria supported by the State, the Party Committee of the commune has strengthened mass mobilization work, focusing on propagating people's consensus to participate in the movement to build new rural areas, mobilizing people to donate land for civil works such as roads, cultural houses, sports facilities... In addition, many households have also donated land for schools and clinics to ensure the set criteria. Up to now, in Ta Bhing commune, there have been nearly 100 households donating land for construction works, the households donating more than 4,000m2, the households donating less than 100m2.

Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong, Vice Chairman of Nam Giang District People's Committee, said that in recent years, people's awareness of the construction of new rural areas in the district has had positive and clear changes, which is clearly demonstrated through the people voluntarily donating land to build rural roads, community houses, medical stations, solar lighting systems, waste treatment points, etc. Notably, people in communes such as Ta Bhing, La De and some other localities.

According to the leaders of Nam Giang District People's Committee, up to now, in the district, cultural and sports facilities have been invested in, 50/50 villages have cultural houses. However, due to the mountainous characteristics, the construction of cultural houses also faces many difficulties, the biggest problem is land and construction site.

In addition to the investment attention of the State, the contribution and land donation of the people is an indispensable part. The movement of land donation to build cultural institutions has spread widely and become a bright spot in the movement to build new rural areas in the district.

With the spirit of "The State and the people work together", many households and individuals have voluntarily donated land, including plots of land with great economic value, to serve the construction of community cultural works such as village/hamlet cultural houses, sports fields, and community activity areas. Typically, in localities such as Thanh My town, Mr. Hoang Van Toi donated 491m2 of land, Ms. BhoNuoc Thi Thoi donated 478m2 of land... to build a cultural house of Hoa hamlet; Mr. Riah Nhung donated 850m2 to build a cultural house of Dong Ram hamlet; Mr. Blup Mung donated more than 3,000m2 to build a soccer field for children and continued to donate land to build a traditional Co Tu house to serve the Dong Ram community-based tourism village. In Ca Dy commune, 15 households donated land to build cultural houses of villages...

“This is a movement of great significance, demonstrating the sense of responsibility to the community and the consensus for a common goal. This is also a vivid manifestation of the great national solidarity bloc - a precious tradition of the ethnic minorities in Nam Giang district. Land donation directly contributes to creating a foundation for sustainable cultural development at the grassroots level. Land donation not only helps save on compensation costs for site clearance but also contributes to speeding up the construction progress of projects, promptly meeting the needs of the people, and improving the criteria in building new rural areas”, Mr. Nguyen Dang Chuong emphasized.
