Tourists use personal water bottles at service establishments in Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc to reduce plastic waste.
A group of nearly 30 tourists on the tour "Culinary to reduce plastic waste at waterfall - Green Chuon Lagoon" organized by Hue College of Tourism and travel agencies had interesting experiences at the tourist destination at Chuon Lagoon on Tam Giang Lagoon (through Phu An commune).

Tourism activities are organized with the message of reducing plastic waste, preserving a green - clean - friendly environment. At the community tourism site in Dam Chuon, 6 establishments including homestays and service restaurants have joined hands to make efforts to implement solutions to reduce plastic.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoa, representative of Hue College of Tourism, said that throughout the tour, tourists are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to minimize the use of single-use plastic bottled water.
Tourists also participated in activities such as going to the market and buying seafood from the lagoon, preparing traditional dishes, etc. without using plastic bags. The group also interacted with local people at businesses committed to reducing plastic waste.
The plastic-reducing eco-destination at Dam Chuon was launched on May 28, with the support of the project “Hue - Plastic-reducing city in Central Vietnam” funded by WWF - Norway, implemented in coordination with the Department of Tourism of Hue City and Phu An commune.
Up to now, in Hue city, there have been 4 tourist destinations that reduce plastic waste, including: Thuy Bieu tourist destination (Thuan Hoa district), Thanh Toan tile bridge community tourism (Thuy Thanh commune, Huong Thuy town), Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc community tourism destination (Quang Loi commune, Quang Dien district), Dam Chuon tourist destination (Phu An commune, Phu Vang district).
Ms. Hoang Ngoc Tuong Van, Project Manager of “Hue - Plastic-reducing urban area in Central Vietnam” said that the recent launch of two plastic-reducing tourist destinations on the shore of Tam Giang lagoon, Dam Chuon and Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc, has special significance, gradually changing the awareness and actions of the community in reducing plastic waste in the environment.
According to Director of Hue City Department of Tourism Tran Thi Hoai Tram, Hue tourism industry is oriented towards green and sustainable development, so reducing plastic waste at community tourism sites is very important.
Plastic waste reduction models on the shores of Tam Giang lagoon such as Ngu My Thanh - Con Toc tourist site and Dam Chuon tourist site are of great interest to the tourism industry and will be promoted in the coming time, aiming to spread more widely. Thereby, increasing the quality of experience and emotions of tourists at green, smart and friendly tourist destinations.
