Every evening, the yard of the Cao Xa village cultural house, Sao Dai Viet commune (Vinh Tuong) is filled with the sound of music and the cheerful laughter of women participating in folk dance. In particular, in April, the practice sessions of the women in the village were more enthusiastic because the exercises were carefully selected and practiced smoothly to participate in the folk dance competition organized by the Women's Union of Vinh Tuong district.
With the motto "first comer teaches later comer, those who know teach those who don't know, those who know a lot teach those who know a little", the number of women participating in folk dance sports is increasing. Up to now, Cao Xa village has 4 folk dance teams in 4 hamlets.
Comrade Pham Thi Kieu Loan, President of the Sao Dai Viet Commune Women's Union, said: “Practicing folk dance has now become a habit of many women in the commune. Every night, after finishing their household chores, the women meet at the village cultural house to practice. Many women were hesitant when they first joined, afraid that they didn't know how to dance, but after a short time of practicing, they confidently performed on many local stages and events, and interacted with clubs, groups, teams, and groups in many places. Since participating in the sport folk dance movement, many women have improved their health, and are happier and more optimistic.”
To promote the movement, the Women's Union of Vinh Tuong district regularly organizes exchanges and folk dance competitions on holidays, Tet, and major national festivals. Recently, to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day on April 30, continuing to respond to the campaign "All people exercise following the example of great Uncle Ho", the Women's Union of the district organized a folk dance competition with the theme "Healthy and beautiful dance" with the participation of 20 excellent teams from 20 communes and towns in the district. The competition has contributed to spreading the folk dance practice movement, arousing creativity and confidence among female members.
Folk dance is a sport that does not require high technique, simple movements, easy to remember, diverse and rich exercises, and simple costumes, so it attracts a large number of women to participate.
The interesting point of folk dance is that it does not distinguish between ages and subjects, from children to the elderly can participate, and the practice space can be flexible in many locations. Folk dance not only helps to improve health and spirit but also creates conditions for exchange and connection between members. The dances are gradually adapted and integrated through folk songs, women create their own movements or watch on social networks to practice and then give each other feedback and corrections.
Up to now, 100% of communes, wards and towns in the province have established folk dance clubs, each club has from 20 to 100 members. Every year, on the occasion of March 8 or October 20, major national holidays, women's associations at all levels organize competitions, performances, folk dance and sports exchanges, creating playgrounds and opportunities for women members to exchange.
Implementing the emulation movement "Building Vinh Phuc women of the new era" associated with studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style, 100% of the association's bases maintain at least one type of activity to mobilize women to improve their knowledge, cultivate morality and improve their health; 100% of the association's bases organize cultural and artistic exchange activities, folk dance and sports to celebrate major holidays.
The spread of the folk dance movement among women's union members has contributed to the widespread development of cultural, artistic and sports movements. The folk dance movement not only helps women improve their health but also creates a healthy cultural and spiritual living environment. This is also an opportunity for women's union members to raise awareness of the union's activities, contributing to the overall development of the locality.
