After many years of working as a teacher, many female teachers have become a source of inspiration for many generations of students thanks to their perseverance and sense of responsibility.

Connecting knowledge and life

Since childhood, Meritorious Teacher Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen - a teacher at Quang Trung Secondary School, Lam Dong - has nurtured the dream of becoming a teacher. Entering the profession, the young teacher encountered many difficulties such as limited teaching conditions, scarce materials, and students with different family conditions. In the early years, she often wondered how all students could receive knowledge fairly and it was these concerns that motivated her to constantly self-study and innovate.

As a natural science teacher, Ms. Huyen applies active teaching methods such as group activities, project-based learning, information technology application, STEM teaching organization and creative experiences. Thanks to that, the quality of students' learning has improved significantly, weak students have made progress, and good students have developed their independent thinking ability.

"I always try to bring knowledge into life, so that each lesson becomes closer, more vivid and easy to remember. When students see the practical value of knowledge, they will learn with more interest, initiative and depth" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen shared. She added that connecting lessons to reality not only helps students understand the lesson but also trains their thinking, critical thinking, and essential skills for life.

From the 2016-2017 to 2024-2025 school year, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen guided 122 students to participate in the city-level chemistry competition, winning 88 prizes, including 5 first prizes, 23 second prizes, 27 third prizes and 33 consolation prizes.

As the team leader of Bao Loc City (old) team, in 7 years from 2017-2018 to 2023-2024, she and her colleagues helped 80 students win provincial prizes. She also guided students to participate in scientific research and achieve excellent results.

To achieve this result, at the beginning of the school year, she grasped the students' situation and found solutions to overcome difficulties. Ms. Huyen said that in the teaching process, it is necessary to pay attention to the equal development of both general and excellent students. With general students, she teaches with patience, closeness, and divides the goals into small parts so that they can easily approach them.

For students with outstanding abilities, she assigns them the task of improving, guiding scientific research, and participating in intellectual playgrounds. "Teaching with practice and real-life situations is how I inspire and stimulate students' self-learning and creativity" - Ms. Huyen shared.

Nourish the body and mind

Teaching in a disadvantaged area, Meritorious Teacher Tran Thi Chau is attached to A Xing Kindergarten, Lia Commune, Quang Tri Province - where the majority of students are children of Pa Ko, Bru - Van Kieu ethnic groups. Lia Commune is located in a mountainous area of Quang Tri Province, where people's lives are very deprived. Facilities are lacking, many remote schools are located far from the center, roads are difficult to travel, the rainy season is often isolated, and the travel area is complicated. Parents lack knowledge of child care, the rate of malnourished children is high, eating and hygiene habits are not good. Children come to class mainly speaking ethnic languages, with limited Vietnamese. In the 2025-2026 school year, Ms. Tran Thi Chau is in charge of a combined class of more than 18 children, including children with disabilities.

To overcome difficulties, Ms. Chau learned Bru - Van Kieu language to communicate with children, helping them feel secure and confident. She integrated ethnic culture through games, songs, and storytelling. She realized that boarding school is important for children to develop comprehensively, practice eating and hygiene habits.

In 2008, after a study trip to the northern provinces, she proposed the "boarding school" model - parents bring meals to class. The model was supported by parents and teachers. Initially, only 50% of children participated, but now 100% of children participate in the centralized boarding school.

The quality of boarding has been improved, the rate of malnourished children has decreased sharply over each school year. Children's eating and hygiene habits and routines have been formed, children have developed cognitively, language, self-care, hygiene habits, and disease prevention.

Ms. Chau invites parents to supervise meals, informs them of health check-up results, advises on the causes of malnutrition, and guides them in cooking nutritious meals at home. She connects with charities to ask for books, clothes, and school supplies, and asks parents to contribute to building the classroom environment and vegetable garden.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, she sewed masks and clothes for children. Having devoted herself to the cause of education, Ms. Tran Thi Chau was awarded the title of Excellent Teacher by the President in 2023.

Innovation from the classroom to the field

Always believing that knowledge is not enough if it stays in the laboratory, knowledge must be brought to life, must solve practical problems of society, Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Thuy, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, wishes to encourage students to be passionate about scientific research and apply high technology to solve problems that exist in life. This has become the motivation for her, her colleagues and students to diligently find solutions, bringing the achievements of the Automation industry in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and modern wireless communications out of the laboratory, to the fields.

Together with her students, Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Thuy worked with agricultural experts from the Vietnam National Academy of Agriculture to design a wireless sensor network that continuously monitors soil parameters in the field, especially the moisture in the soil at a depth of several tens of centimeters around the roots of plants to make accurate irrigation decisions to help save water and energy for the irrigation system. This research result brought Associate Professor Dr. Le Minh Thuy and her students the 2023 Hitachi Global Foundation Asia Innovation Award.

From the research results of underground moisture sensors, Associate Professor, Dr. Thuy and his domestic and international colleagues continue to go further with the EMERALD project - Multi-source green energy system for sustainable agriculture.

The project’s initial research helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 50% and increase yields compared to traditional farming without depending on grid electricity thanks to a multi-source energy harvesting solution (waste heat, biomass, solar, RF waves, etc.) to power the IoT system. EMERALD is being tested right in the rice growing areas of Northern Vietnam.

Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Thuy shared that if anyone asked her what she was most proud of, the answer would certainly not be only international scientific publications in prestigious journals or international awards, but also the generations of students who have grown up. "I always hope to inspire students, so that from the lecture hall, they will spread knowledge to the community, so that the Vietnamese fields in the digital age are green, sustainable, and full of aspiration" - Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Thuy expressed.

Meritorious Teachers Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen, Tran Thi Chau and Associate Professor, Dr. Le Minh Thuy are typical examples attending the 8th Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Education Sector to be held in Hanoi on November 17.
