Laos and China hold joint military exercise on counter-terrorism

According to Xinhua news agency, China and Laos on May 11 launched a joint exercise at the Kommadam Academy of the Lao People's Armed Forces (LPAF) to enhance the capabilities of the two countries' militaries in counter-terrorism.

According to the Southern Theater Command of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA), the joint military exercise called "Sino-Lao Friendship Shield 2023" is a platform for exchanging experiences between the two militaries as well as specific measures to deepen friendship and enhance cooperation between the two countries.

The opening session of the exercise was attended by Major General Phanseng Bounphanh, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the LPAF, and Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong.

The exercise was organized according to the scenario of joint attacks on transnational armed criminal groups hiding in remote mountainous areas to strengthen defense cooperation between China and Laos on the basis of the joint statement signed by the two sides on building a China-Laos community with a shared future./.
