On the morning of May 23, the world gold price turned down to 3,302 USD/ounce, down 24 USD compared to yesterday. Even before that, the precious metal had fallen below 3,300 USD/ounce.

Domestically, the price of gold bars at Saigon Jewelry Company - SJC was reduced by half a million VND, down to 118 million VND for buying and 120 million VND for selling. The difference between the buying and selling prices of SJC gold bars was maintained at 2 million VND/tael.

The price of 4-number 9 gold rings at SJC remained unchanged compared to yesterday, continuing to be bought at 112.5 million VND and sold at 115.5 million VND. PNJ also kept the buying price of gold rings at 112.5 million VND and sold at 115.5 million VND; Doji Group reduced the buying price by 500,000 VND to 112.5 million VND but kept the selling price at 115.5 million VND... The difference between buying and selling gold rings at the companies remained at 3 million VND/tael.

Gold prices fell as the US dollar strengthened and investors took profits. Tariff agreements between the US government and other countries are expected to be announced in the coming weeks and are expected to play a key role in shaping gold prices for the rest of the year.

Although gold is down sharply from its peak last month, some analysts believe that the rally is not over. In a report published earlier this month, Imaru Casanova, portfolio manager of the VanEck Gold and Precious Metals Fund, said that in a new accumulation phase, gold is building a solid base above $3,000 an ounce. The correction from last month's historic peak of $3,500 an ounce is neither worrying nor unexpected.

Ms Casanova noted that although investment demand has increased significantly in recent months, she said that currently only about 1% of total global assets under management are allocated to the gold sector.../.
