On the morning of May 23, market developments showed that gasoline and oil prices continued to decline. At the close of trading early this morning, Brent crude oil prices fell 47 cents, or 0.72%, to $64.44 per barrel; WTI crude oil fell 37 cents, or 0.6%, to $61.2 per barrel.

The news that the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its allies (OPEC+) may increase production again from July, after finalizing increases in May and June, has helped pull oil prices down. Analysts say that speculation surrounding OPEC+'s production increase is the biggest factor affecting oil prices at present.

After cutting production sharply during the Covid-19 pandemic, OPEC+ plans to accelerate production this year and may return 2.2 million barrels per day to the market in November. Information shows that this group of major oil producers is in the process of removing production cuts and has decided to gradually increase production in May and June.

RON95 gasoline price is at 19,000 VND/liter - the lowest level in the past 4 years

Today's drop in oil prices was also affected by a sharp increase in US oil and gasoline inventories. Data from the US Energy Information Administration showed that oil inventories increased by 1.3 million barrels to 443.2 million barrels, contrary to analysts' expectations of a decrease of 1.3 million barrels.

Domestically, yesterday afternoon (May 22), gasoline prices were adjusted in opposite directions, with gasoline prices decreasing slightly and oil prices increasing slightly. Specifically, E5 RON92 gasoline prices decreased by 58 VND/liter, RON 95-III gasoline decreased by 62 VND/liter, diesel increased by 177 VND/liter, kerosene increased by 88 VND/liter and fuel oil increased by 352 VND/kg.

In this management period, the joint Ministry of Finance - Ministry of Industry and Trade continues not to use or allocate the above-mentioned Petroleum Price Stabilization Fund.

After the change, on the morning of May 23, the retail price of gasoline on the market is commonly as follows: E5 RON92 gasoline is not more than 19,122 VND/liter; RON 95-III gasoline is not more than 19,532 VND/liter; diesel oil is not more than 17,405 VND/liter; kerosene is not more than 17,314 VND/liter; mazut oil is not more than 16,512 VND/kg./.
