The Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Medicine has focused on taking samples for monitoring household-scale chicken flocks. For farm-scale chicken flocks, the owner of the facility proactively implements monitoring methods according to the instructions of the veterinary management agency.
Clinical signs of suspected avian influenza include: High rates of illness and death (over 5% within two days) or rapid death with typical symptoms such as: purple head, runny nose, difficulty breathing, laziness, huddled in groups, lying prone, neurological signs, diarrhea, ruffled feathers.
Clinical signs of suspected Newcastle outbreak: Poultry are lethargic, sedentary, eyes closed, drink a lot of water, crimson comb, difficulty breathing, coughing, yawning, shaking head, mucus flowing from nose, mouth, bloated crop, reduced egg laying, deformed eggs, rough shell or calcium deficiency...
The total number of samples taken from Yen The district was 1,710 single samples, combined into 342 test samples. The test results were used to evaluate the effectiveness of vaccination work and to assess and certify disease-free facilities.
It is known that this is the final year of implementing the Project "Building a safe area for avian influenza and Newcastle disease for chickens in Yen The district, Bac Giang province, period 2021-2025".
Since 2022, Yen The hill chickens have been granted a certificate of avian influenza and Newcastle disease-free zone. To be eligible to maintain a disease-free zone, every year, the authorities organize inspections, assessments and take periodic monitoring samples.
