Planning about 1,600 high-yield, high-quality rice areas
On the morning of November 26, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province held an online conference to deploy the agricultural production plan for 2026, in which the immediate goal is to successfully implement the Spring Crop Production Project.

According to Mr. Nguyen Thanh Hai, Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh, 2025 is a year of many disadvantages and difficulties for agricultural production. On rice plants, dangerous pests such as rice blast, brown spot, etc. cause widespread damage; corn plants are affected by fall armyworm, brown spot, and leaf spot. On livestock, African swine fever is raging, causing heavy damage.
Faced with increasingly unfavorable weather and epidemic fluctuations, 2026 is the first year of implementing the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress - a year of special importance, creating the premise, momentum and foundation for the entire period 2026 - 2030. Therefore, in the immediate future, Ha Tinh strives to achieve comprehensive success in the spring crop production in 2026.
Accordingly, the guiding viewpoint is to create a change in awareness and action for the two-level government as well as the people "taking ecological agriculture as the main focus, organic agriculture as the spearhead for sustainable agricultural economic development". Strive for each commune and ward to have effective models, facilities/production areas according to local advantages such as: Rice production to reduce emissions (using organic microbial fertilizers, applying alternating flooding and drying, improved rice intensive farming system SRI, integrated pest management, using transplanters, seeders, treating rootstock); fruit trees (oranges, grapefruits) using disease-free varieties, applying organic farming, soil improvement, integrated pest management; developing a number of safe vegetable production areas associated with traceability, following the clean food chain...
Regarding the 2026 spring rice planting area, Ha Tinh strives to sow and cultivate more than 59,000 hectares, with an output of over 354,000 tons, and the total upland crop area strives to reach more than 19,500 hectares.

Special attention should be paid to seeding and planting timing to limit damage in the early stages of planting. Photo: Thanh Nga.
Solutions for the industry and localities to note include: Rice varieties with good yield and quality, easy-to-consum products such as Bac Thinh, Nep 98, Nep 87, Ha Phat 3, Khang Dan Mut Mut, Khang Dan 18, BT09, ADI168, VNR20, Nhi Uu 838, BQ, Thai Xuyen 111...
The 2026 spring rice sowing schedule is forecast to coincide with the Lap Xuan season, which has the highest frequency of cold in the year, so farmers are encouraged to cover seedlings with plastic, proactively protect seedlings and direct-sown rice from the cold, striving to sow seedlings from January 10 to February 5, 2026. Particularly in areas with the practice of direct sowing, the sowing schedule follows the planting season, striving for rice to bloom from April 25, ending before May 5, 2026. Especially note not to sow on days when the temperature is below 15 degrees Celsius.
Ha Tinh has also completed the planning of high-yield, high-quality rice growing areas with a target of about 1,600 areas, totaling about 32,800 hectares. Based on the planning area, the locality prioritizes budget investment in irrigation and traffic works in the planning area, associated with reorganizing production towards specialization and reducing emissions.

The Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ha Tinh province emphasized that the plan for reducing emissions in rice production needs to be implemented from the spring crop of 2026 to lay the foundation for expansion in the coming years. Photo: Thanh Nga.
In addition, the commune level continues to accumulate and concentrate land in the direction of large fields, striving to put into production from the spring crop of 2026 an area of over 14,000 hectares. Encourage the application of measures to improve and enhance the quality of rice land through organic fertilizers, microbial fertilizers and the application of sustainable farming measures to increase fertility, reduce soil degradation, towards green, sustainable and environmentally friendly agricultural production.
Strive for an agricultural growth rate of over 3%
Mr. Nguyen Duy Cuong, Chairman of Gia Hanh Commune People's Committee, said that to produce rice with high efficiency, it is necessary to concentrate on accumulating and converting land into large fields. For example, Gia Hanh Commune is striving to convert over 1,000 hectares by 2030. In the immediate future, in the spring crop of 2026, the commune will convert 150 hectares in 3 villages to cultivate key, high-yield rice varieties such as Nep 98 and Hana.
“Based on the policies of the Central and the province, we have accumulated many areas of cultivation of one variety, one season, one process with an area of 5-10 hectares. At the same time, we have taken advantage of the cement support policy in the construction of new rural areas to upgrade roads and canals in the fields,” said Mr. Cuong.
According to him, the most important thing now is for the Provincial People's Council to issue a policy to support the development of agricultural production in the period 2026 - 2030. This includes a policy to support the purchase of seeding machines and transplanting machines. If this support content is put into practice, it will bring great benefits in reducing production costs, increasing rice productivity, protecting the environment and changing farmers' production practices.

Mr. Ho Huy Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, requested localities to focus on implementing projects and strive to achieve an agricultural growth rate of over 3% in 2026. Photo: Thanh Nga.
Emphasizing the agricultural production plan for 2026, Mr. Ho Huy Thanh, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province, requested localities to urgently develop, promulgate, direct, organize summaries and well implement projects and production plans to ensure the completion and surpassing of set targets, striving for an agricultural growth rate of over 3%.
“In the immediate future, we need to focus on strictly managing and handling businesses that sell poor quality seeds and fertilizers, because ignoring quality management will cause damage to the entire crop. Communes and villages must promote the crop calendar to households, absolutely not allowing planting to go against the crop calendar. Organize production according to technical processes, especially applying advanced tray seeding and transplanting machines combined with alternating flooding and drying in production. At the same time, proactively investigate, detect, forecast, and promptly prevent pests and diseases, protecting production results,” the Vice Chairman of Ha Tinh province emphasized.
Ms. Vo Thi Hong Minh, Director of Ha Tinh Seed and Trading Joint Stock Company, said that to meet the seed demand for the 2026 spring crop, in addition to the Company's seed set, the unit has connected with businesses that own exclusive rice varieties, balancing output, and being ready to supply promptly to producers.
In particular, with the project of rice cultivation to reduce emissions, the Company strongly supports the policy. In the immediate future, the Company has registered to participate in 2 models applying tray seedling - transplanting machine, alternating flooding and drying on Nep 98 rice variety with an area of 40 hectares in Tung Loc and Cam Binh communes. If favorable, the Company will continue to expand and commit to cooperate in purchasing products for farmers.
