(QBĐT) - This morning, May 22, at Cha Lo International Border Gate (Dan Hoa Commune, Minh Hoa), Steering Committee 515 of Quang Binh province held a ceremony to welcome the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos and were gathered in the dry season of 2023-2024 back to Vietnam.

Comrade Hoang Xuan Tan, Member of the Provincial Party Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Head of the Steering Committee 515 of Quang Binh province chaired the ceremony. Attending the ceremony were representatives of leaders of relevant departments, agencies and branches. On the side of Khammouane province (Laos), there was Comrade Keo U Don But Xing Khon, Member of the Standing Committee, Deputy Governor, Head of the Special Working Group of Khammouane province and comrades in the working delegation.

Implementing the plan to search and collect the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos in the 2023-2024 dry season, with the attention, support and assistance of the Party Committee, government, armed forces and people of Khammouane province (Laos), after many months of searching, collecting and actively verifying information, officers and staff of Team 589, Quang Binh Provincial Military Command searched for and collected the remains of 16 Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who died in Laos to bring back to the country.

At the ceremony, representatives of the leaders of the Steering Committee 515 of Quang Binh province, the Special Working Committee of Khammouane province, along with local cadres, soldiers and people respectfully offered incense and flowers, expressing deep gratitude for the great contributions of the heroic martyrs and volunteer soldiers who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the two peoples of Vietnam and Laos.

The Party Committee, government and people of Quang Binh and Kham Muon provinces vow to make efforts and strive to continue to strengthen the special, steadfast and sustainable solidarity and friendship to be worthy of previous generations.

According to plan, the remains of 16 martyrs will be brought back for burial and a memorial service will be held on the morning of May 23 at Ba Doc Martyrs Cemetery (Ly Trach Commune, Bo Trach).
