According to the Government Electronic Information Portal, on the morning of August 1, in the capital New Delhi, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi presided over the official welcoming ceremony for Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh at the Indian Presidential Palace.
When Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh's motorcade arrived at the main gate, the cavalry team greeted and escorted the motorcade into the welcoming area. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed the Prime Minister at the parking lot.
After the two Prime Ministers took a group photo, the Director of the Indian Protocol Department invited Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to the podium. The military band played the national anthems of both countries. Afterwards, the Prime Minister reviewed the Guard of Honour of the Indian Army.
Next, the two leaders introduced the members of the two countries' high-ranking delegations attending the welcoming ceremony.
Immediately after the welcoming ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh offered flowers at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial.
The Prime Minister and the delegation were introduced to some highlights of the life and career of Mahatma Gandhi and performed the flower-laying ceremony to commemorate the Indian national hero.
Writing in the guest book, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh emphasized that the thoughts of Mahatma Gandhi, the "great soul" of the Indian people, will always be an eternal symphony, resounding forever in the minds of the people of India, Vietnam and other countries in the world.
The history of Vietnam-India relations originated from the cultural and religious exchange process more than 2,000 years ago and was built and nurtured by two great leaders, President Ho Chi Minh and leader Mahatma Gandhi. The two countries have always supported and helped each other in the struggles against foreign invaders and for national independence.
This is the first visit of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh as head of the Government and the first visit to India by a Vietnamese Prime Minister in 10 years.
During this visit, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Indian leaders will discuss and propose directions to develop the Vietnam - India Comprehensive Strategic Partnership increasingly strongly, substantially and effectively in all fields.
