Groundbreaking ceremony of Ho Chi Minh City – Thu Dau Mot

Delegates performed the groundbreaking ceremony.

Attending the ceremony were Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha, leaders of central and local ministries and branches.

The Ho Chi Minh City – Thu Dau Mot – Chon Thanh Expressway Project is an important part of the North – South traffic axis, connecting Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc with major routes such as Ring Roads 2, 3, 4 of Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Nghia – Chon Thanh Expressway, major airports and seaports. The route is expected to not only reduce traffic congestion but also enhance trade and economic development in the Southeast and Central Highlands regions.

The section passing through Binh Phuoc province has a total length of about 6.6 km, a design speed of 100 km/h, a scale of 4 lanes, a roadbed width of 25.5 m, a design speed of 100 km/h, and an emergency lane. When completed, the expressway will be expanded to 6 lanes. The entire route includes 4 interchanges, 2 entrance and exit points, 26 bridges and tunnels to ensure traffic circulation.

The starting point borders the two provinces of Binh Duong and Binh Phuoc and the ending point is Chon Thanh town (Binh Phuoc) with a total cost of 1,474 billion VND. The project is implemented in the form of public-private partnership (PPP), BOT contract type, with a commitment of local budget capital. This is a testament to the close cooperation between the Central and local governments to develop a sustainable and modern transport infrastructure system.

Implementation period from 2024 - 2026; in which 2024 prepare investment, prepare and approve investment policy report, prepare and approve feasibility study report, organize contractor selection, start construction; 2025 - 2026 continue construction and strive to complete the project and put into use by the end of 2026.

According to Chairman of Binh Phuoc Provincial People's Committee Tran Tue Hien, the construction of the Ho Chi Minh City - Thu Dau Mot - Chon Thanh expressway through Binh Phuoc province will gradually complete the expressway network according to the approved plan. Together with the North - South expressway in the West, the Gia Nghia (Dak Nong) - Chon Thanh (Binh Phuoc) section, it contributes to the formation of traffic axes connecting the Central Highlands and the Southeast and Southwest regions, creating an important traffic axis as a premise for the development of infrastructure areas along the route, improving connectivity, shortening travel time, transportation costs and ensuring traffic safety./.
