Stories about the nearly two-century journey of coffee beans on the land of Vietnam will be vividly recreated at the Global Coffee Heritage Festival 2025, from the first plantations to the Vietnamese culture of enjoying filter coffee.
This information was shared at the press conference announcing the 2025 Global Coffee Heritage Festival, taking place on November 25 in Ho Chi Minh City.
The festival, co-organized by the People's Committee of Lam Dong province and TNI Group (King Coffee), is an international cultural- tourism -commercial event, taking place for the first time in Da Lat (Lam Dong).
Taking place from December 18, 2025 to January 2, 2026, the Global Coffee Heritage Festival is designed to become a new cultural- economic symbol in Vietnam's coffee production and export industry.
Opening the press conference, Ms. Le Hoang Diep Thao, General Director of TNI Group, known as the “Queen of Vietnamese Coffee”, outlined the nearly two-century journey of Vietnamese coffee beans, from the first plantations in the Central Highlands to the title of the second largest coffee producer in the world today.

“I have spent nearly 30 years traveling to more than 43 countries and participating in more than 120 international conferences to prove the quality of Vietnamese coffee, overcoming prejudice and the West's "hiding" of the name robusta to suppress prices. Until the turning point in 2021, after the Dubai Expo and receiving 3 world records, the price of Vietnamese robusta coffee increased from 35,000 VND/kg to 130,000-135,000 VND/kg. This is a recognition that brings fairness to Vietnamese coffee growers,” Ms. Thao shared.
According to Ms. Thao, this Global Coffee Heritage Festival is considered a strategic step, aiming to affirm that Vietnam is a powerful country exporting robusta coffee and has enough stature to become a center of convergence and honoring global coffee heritage.
Mr. Pham S, former Vice Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee, added that currently, there are about 70 countries growing coffee in the world. The average coffee output in the world is only 0.9 tons per hectare. Meanwhile, Vietnam's coffee output is 2.5 tons, 3 times higher than the world's.
Meanwhile, Lam Dong currently has a coffee area of 41,700 hectares with an output of 120,000 tons, accounting for 43% of the area but the output reaches 58%.
“This shows that Lam Dong is the coffee capital not only of Vietnam but also of the world. Through this festival, we will turn coffee from a crop industry into a valuable heritage in terms of culture, economy and tourism,” said Mr. Pham S.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Xuan Huong, Head of the Festival Organizing Committee, said that the festival has the participation of coffee businesses and associations from coffee powerhouses in the world such as Brazil, Ethiopia, Indonesia, etc., opening up new export and cooperation opportunities, promoting the coffee industry towards a creative economy.
With a series of continuous activities including: International Coffee Conference - Announcement of the Vietnam-World Coffee Alliance (GCA); Exhibition of the 1932 antique train car "Coffee Heritage Train Car"; Global Coffee Journey Week and Grand Music Night combining folk and modern music "Coffee Music Night"...

The Global Coffee Heritage Festival will become a tourism-economic brand, actively contributing to local development, spreading the beautiful image of Vietnam and affirming Vietnam to the world that: Vietnamese coffee not only has output, but also has a story, culture and guiding vision.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lam Dong province, emphasized that the festival also demonstrates Vietnam's pioneering role in organizing a global coffee event, connecting the history, present and future of the coffee industry on a sustainable and heritage basis.
“The festival is built on three main goals: honoring the past (paying tribute to the land, people and stories that have created the coffee heritage), connecting the present (creating a space for cultural exchange, trade and top knowledge for coffee countries to share and develop together) and creating the future (promoting sustainable development trends and innovative technology, helping to shape a prosperous and responsible future for the global coffee industry),” said Ms. Ngoc.
Within the framework of the 2025 Global Coffee Heritage Festival, the International Barista Competition was also held with the theme "Honoring talent - Affirming heritage."
This will be an international playground where baristas - the "keepers of the legacy" - can freely create and spread the spirit of contributing to the sustainable development of the coffee industry./.
