Paris 2024 Olympics opening ceremony promises to be impressive with a message of love

The opening ceremony will begin at 7:30 p.m. local time on July 26 (1:30 a.m. on July 27, Vietnam time). According to the organizers, for the first time in history, the opening ceremony of an Olympic Games will take place outside the stadium walls.

The opening event for the 2024 Olympics will take place right in the heart of the magnificent capital of France, Paris. About 6,000 to 7,000 athletes will take boats along a 6km stretch of the Seine River, from the famous Austerlitz Bridge to the legendary Eiffel Tower.

An estimated 500,000 people are expected to attend the opening ceremony in makeshift stands along the banks of the Seine. Tickets to these stands are not cheap, at 2,700 euros (about 75 million VND) per person.

"Organizing an opening ceremony on the Seine is much more difficult than organizing a similar ceremony in a stadium. But certainly an opening ceremony in the heart of Paris will have a much greater impact," said Tony Estanguet, head of the Paris 2024 Olympic Organizing Committee.

What is noteworthy is that, to ensure the security of the opening ceremony, all the actors participating in this event have never rehearsed fully, at the same time, on the Seine River. Therefore, people are even more curious about the complexity of the performances in the opening ceremony in the early morning of July 27 (Vietnam time).

The opening show's general director is Thomas Jolly, director of the popular rock-opera musical Starmania.

The complexity of the opening ceremony is partly reflected in the people Thomas Jolly invited to work with him. Among them was Fanny Herrero, director of the hit French TV series Call My Agent.

In addition, one of Europe's best-selling authors, Leila Slimani, and renowned historian Patrick Boucheron, were also invited to advise on the opening program.

About 3,000 dancers, singers, and artists performed along both banks of the Seine River during the opening ceremony. Director Thomas Jolly revealed that the opening ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics also contributed to honoring the historic Notre Dame Cathedral, which has completed restoration after a huge fire in 2019.

Also according to director Thomas Jolly, the message he sent to the world , through the opening ceremony of the Olympics, was love, in one of the most romantic cities on the planet.

Amidst the neo-classical art performances, tourists and television audiences around the world will be treated to a poetic view of Paris at sunset, one of the city's most beautiful times.
