30th Anniversary of the Founding of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (May 10, 1995

At the ceremony, delegates watched a report on the results of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnam Association of the Elderly (May 10, 1995 - May 10, 2025). Accordingly, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly, formerly the Association of Elderly People for National Salvation, played an important role in the history of building and defending the country. On May 10, 1995, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly was officially established, marking a historical milestone for the elderly and the Association of the Elderly.

Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh - Chairman of Vietnam Association of the Elderly delivered the opening speech at the ceremony.

After 30 years of formation and development, it has now become an organization representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of the elderly nationwide. This is not only an important historical milestone but also a testament to the concern, care, and honor of the elderly - the generation that has made great contributions to the cause of building and defending the Fatherland. Through the process of formation and development, the Elderly Association has encouraged cadres and members to promote the Dien Hong tradition, the tradition of the Association of Elderly People for National Salvation founded by President Ho Chi Minh, and has become an important social force, deeply demonstrating political mettle, absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, following the Party, following Uncle Ho to make revolution, making an important contribution to implementing social security policies, caring for the disadvantaged, actively contributing to all areas of social life, protecting and building the country.

Currently, the Association has more than 7 million elderly people nationwide who are entrepreneurs, business owners, owners of production and business establishments, participating in economic development, making effective and practical contributions to the country's development, contributing to creating jobs for about 9 million people, including the elderly and the community.

Comrade Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front spoke at the ceremony.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Do Van Chien - Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front: acknowledged and commended the outstanding achievements of the Association of the Elderly at all levels in recent years. At the same time, he requested that Party committees, authorities, organizations, and the Association of the Elderly from the central to grassroots levels continue to thoroughly grasp the consistent viewpoint of our Party and State, identifying the elderly as an important political and social force in the cause of national construction and defense; caring for and promoting the role of the elderly is the responsibility of the Party, State, society and family; in the coming time, the Association of the Elderly needs to proactively arrange and consolidate the organization in the direction of streamlining, operating effectively and efficiently according to the model of 2-level local government and being an active member of the Vietnam Fatherland Front; Closely follow the grassroots and residential areas to strongly innovate the content and methods of operation, grasp the aspirations of members, propagate and encourage children and grandchildren to agree, support, and voluntarily implement all Party policies and guidelines and state laws and policies...

On this occasion, the Vietnam Association of the Elderly was awarded the First Class Labor Medal by the Party and State; launching a humanitarian program, bright eyes for the elderly.
