“Penalties are part of the game. But how we perform in the 90 minutes is the most important thing. Hopefully we will get a positive result in the official match time. If we have to take penalties, then let’s do it,” Le Viktor shared before the last training session of U23 Vietnam on the afternoon of July 28.

This is the third consecutive time that U23 Vietnam has participated in the final match of the U23 Southeast Asian tournament. After a journey with three consecutive wins and only conceding two goals, coach Kim Sang-sik's team is full of confidence as they enter the most important match.

“U23 Indonesia is a very tough opponent, but we are well prepared. Hopefully this will be a good match,” Viktor assessed his opponent.

As one of the prominent faces in the current squad, the midfielder with Vietnamese-Russian blood said he is gradually integrating and improving every day: “I try to listen to the instructions from coach Kim Sang-sik, learn and carry out the tactical requirements well. Off the field, I also learn Vietnamese to communicate better with my teammates. Every day, I talk to my teammates in Vietnamese, which helps us understand each other better when competing.”

When asked about his chances of playing in the next match, Viktor said simply but with determination: “Whoever gets on the field will fight to win. We are preparing very carefully and are ready for tomorrow's final.”

The final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia will take place at 8pm on July 29 at Bung Karno Stadium. This match is expected to have 80,000 spectators cheering for the home team.
