Family together to prevent and fight fires

On the afternoon of a day at the end of April 2023, a fire broke out on Phan Dang Luu Street, Dong Ba Ward ( Hue City), threatening electrical stores.

Immediately after discovering the fire, the TLGATPCCC members of the local residential group shouted and mobilized forces and means on the spot to extinguish the fire, evacuate people and flammable objects. At the same time, they reported to the Ward People's Committee and Dong Ba Ward Police to respond, mobilized more officers, soldiers, and fire-fighting equipment from the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police Department (PCCC and CNCH) of the Provincial Police to coordinate in extinguishing the fire.

After a short time, the fire was completely extinguished by the coordinated forces, preventing it from spreading and causing damage to people and property of people doing business along the route...

This is a hypothetical situation organized by Hue City Police, People's Committee, Dong Ba Ward Police in coordination with the professional force of the Fire Prevention and Fighting Police Department and the Provincial Police's Rescue Department to practice, aiming to improve fire fighting and extinguishing skills. Thereby, evaluating and drawing experience for the police of communes and wards in Hue City to better organize fire prevention and fighting models during hot summer days like now.

Mr. La Van Tuat, Head of TLGATPCCC Group No. 8, Residential Group 12, Dong Ba Ward shared: “The TLGATPCCC model has connected households together to handle fire incidents. The important thing is that all members of TLGATPCCC are aware of both promoting fire prevention propaganda to each household and being proactive, flexible and not subjective in fire prevention work”.

According to Mr. Tuat, the fire prevention and fighting and rescue drills are very favorable conditions for members of the TLGATPCCC not only in Dong Ba ward but also in other communes and wards in Hue city to improve their proactive spirit in fire prevention and fighting and first aid when a fire occurs; minimizing damage.

Along with the TLGATPCCC model, many public fire stations have also been established in densely populated residential areas, to be more proactive in fire prevention and fighting work.

Chairman of Dong Ba Ward People's Committee Nguyen Dinh Nghi said that in densely populated areas with many businesses, but narrow roads, and difficulties in fire prevention and rescue work, there are public fire stations. In fact, many fires and small incidents were promptly detected by people and the use of initial fire fighting equipment to extinguish the fire was very effective, avoiding large fires before professional fire prevention and rescue forces arrived.

From the TLGATPCCC model, the Vietnam Fatherland Front of the province has been implementing the campaign "Each family equips itself with a fire extinguisher" in residential areas; the Provincial Labor Federation mobilizes "Cadres, civil servants, public employees, union members, and workers to equip themselves with portable fire extinguishers in their households" at agencies, units, and enterprises in the province.

In residential group 1, Phuoc Vinh ward (Hue city), there are many households with adjacent houses and houses combined with business, so the potential risk of fire and explosion is very high. Based on that reality, Phuoc Vinh ward police advised the ward People's Committee to establish 8 TLGATPCCC.

“Each family should equip themselves with portable fire extinguishers, rudimentary demolition tools and design at least two escape routes for their homes, in order to better implement the “4 on-site” fire prevention and fighting motto (fire prevention and fighting force among the people; fire prevention and fighting equipment among the people; fire prevention and fighting logistics among the people; fire prevention and fighting commander among the people),” Lieutenant Colonel Truong Van Nguyen, Chief of Phuoc Vinh Ward Police, shared.

Currently, not only in Dong Ba and Phuoc Vinh wards, but also in many wards and communes in Hue city, people and businesses have been encouraged to equip at least 1 fire extinguisher, 1 fire alarm, 2 fire alarm switches at their production and business premises and residences, and 1 fire alarm light outside the house.

Lieutenant Colonel Phan Thanh Phong, Head of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, said that the TLGATPCCC model continues to be replicated throughout the province to further promote the "National Fire Prevention and Fighting" movement, minimizing possible fires in residential areas.
