The Italian Film Festival 2024, organized by the Italian Embassy in Vietnam, will take place from September 23-28 at the National Film Center ( Hanoi ). The event is organized in collaboration with the Asian Film Festival in Rome, aiming to offer the Vietnamese public contemporary perspectives on Italian cinema.

Speaking at the press conference, Italian Ambassador to Vietnam Marco Della Seta said: "Culture is central to the relationship between Italy and Vietnam, and cinema is one of the important elements for connecting and exchanging cultures between the two countries. Because, for us, cinema is the most effective way to connect people and convey the culture, image of the country and people of Italy to friends around the world . We only need to look at the images or read the subject matter to understand the issues being conveyed in the film."
It's safe to say that 2023 was a very successful year for Italian cinema, with many outstanding works, so I think the films screened at this year's festival will be even better than those shown last year. Through these films, audiences will understand and learn about the diverse and compelling stories of contemporary Italian society."

"I hope that the Vietnamese people will enjoy the films being screened and have a fun time with family and friends, relaxing and enjoying good movies. This is the wish we want to convey to Vietnamese audiences through the Italian Film Festival 2024," said Marco Della Seta.
Sharing his thoughts on this year's film festival, Antonio Termenini, Artistic Director of the Asian Film Festival in Rome and the Italian Film Festival in Hanoi, said: "The Italian Film Festival 2024 is a great opportunity to introduce Italian cinema to the international public. Because, after a period of crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic, Italian cinema has recently seen a resurgence, with many films becoming box office phenomena."
The 2024 Italian Film Festival will showcase six of the most recent acclaimed films from Italian filmmakers, ranging from dramas to romantic comedies: I Am the Captain (directed by Matteo Garrone); The Cold Rolling Mill (directed by Michele Riondino); Zamora (directed by Neri Marcorè); Summer with Irene (directed by Carlo Sironi); Kidnapping (directed by Marco Bellocchio); and An Unfulfilled Dream (directed by Alice Rohrwacher).

"The films screened at this film festival have been carefully selected, having won numerous prestigious awards at regional and international film festivals, and are distinctly Italian in character. Through frames ranging from realism to fantasy, from humor to tragedy, the films portray modern Italian society in the most multifaceted way, addressing political , economic, and pressing social issues such as migration and working conditions," added Antonio Termenini.
Films from the Italian Film Festival 2024 will be screened at 7:30 PM from September 23-28 at the National Film Center (Hanoi). Following each screening, there will be a Q&A session and discussion about the films with Antonio Termenini, Artistic Director of the Asian Film Festival in Rome and the Italian Film Festival in Hanoi.
Free movie tickets will be distributed to audience members who register in advance via the Italian Film Festival 2024 fanpage. Tickets can be picked up at Casa Italia, 18 Le Phung Hieu Street, from September 17th until tickets run out.

Within the framework of the Film Festival, there will also be a film discussion titled "Bringing Films to Festivals: Why? How?" (September 25, 2024) with the participation of Artistic Director Antonio Termenini, along with other speakers, guests, and film experts. Through this discussion, unexpected aspects of the factors that contribute to the outstanding success of a film on the international stage will be revealed.
