(Dan Tri) – The snake mascot at Pho Do Pagoda in Ha Tinh is 8m tall and made mainly from plastic. Since its debut, this mascot has been described as “super cute”.
On January 20, the snake mascot welcoming the Spring of At Ty 2025 was officially "debuted" at Pho Do Pagoda, Ho Do Commune, Ha Tinh City, Ha Tinh Province.
This snake mascot is 8m tall, the main material is high-quality flexible mica plastic.
Just launched, the snake mascot at Pho Do Pagoda has caused a stir on social networks and has been considered by many to be "super cute".
The body and tail of this snake mascot are meticulously designed. Thousands of small plastic pieces are rolled and assembled together to create realistic and vivid snake scales. Four workers in Hue completed this snake mascot within 25 days.
The mascot's head is pink, with sparkling eyes and a laurel wreath.
“The cost of making the snake mascot to welcome the Spring is less than 80 million VND. We came up with the idea of making a snake mascot wearing a laurel wreath with the meaning of wishing everyone a bright future and a warm Spring. Because the laurel wreath is a symbol of eternity, a fulfilled and happy life,” Venerable Thich Hanh Minh – Abbot of Pho Do Pagoda – shared.
According to Venerable Thich Hanh Minh, the laurel wreath has always been awarded to the winner. Therefore, this mascot also has the meaning of wishing Ha Tinh students this year to achieve high results in their studies, the Road to Olympia program as well as sports competitions.
Mr. Manh (born in 1999, residing in Ha Tinh city) and his friends went to Pho Do pagoda to take Tet photos.
“The snake mascot here has a very beautiful shape and color, looks familiar and cute. If we were to rate it, we would give it 10/10,” he shared.
Pho Do Pagoda was built around the end of the 17th century. In 1903, due to the influence of nature, the pagoda collapsed to the bottom of the river. In 1935, the pagoda was restored by fellow Buddhists and local people.
In 2007-2008, the People's Committee of Ha Tinh province allowed the reconstruction of this worshiping building in Vinh Phu hamlet, Ho Do commune. However, due to the narrow area and the lack of quiet space, the local people and authorities chose a new location for the reconstruction. That is the location of Pho Do pagoda today, next to the river and the bridge also named Ho Do.
