A series of candidates with very high admission scores failed to graduate in 2025

Through analysis by VietNamNet reporters from the 2025 high school graduation exam score data announced by the Ministry of Education and Training, some candidates achieved scores of 21 or higher in the groups but had failed subjects.

According to the regulations, candidates with failing scores (1 or lower) will not be eligible for high school graduation, even if they achieve very high scores in the groups and higher than the standard score for admission to a certain university.

Specifically, in the case of candidate with registration number 290281xx, from Nghe An . This candidate has a total score of block C03 (Math, Literature, History) of 25.25 with Literature 9.5; History 9; Math 6.75; but Geography is 0 points.

Or the case of the candidate with registration number 050071xx, from Ha Giang province (old) with a total score of block C00 (Literature, History, Geography) of 24.5 (in which History and Geography were both 8.75; Literature 7). But this candidate had a failing score of 0.4 in Math.

Another candidate also from Nghe An, with registration number 290076xx, achieved a total score of block C20 (Literature, Geography, Economic and Legal Education) of 23.75 (including Literature 7.5; Geography 8 and Economic and Legal Education 8.25) but also failed to graduate because of a Math score of 0.95.

According to preliminary statistics of VietNamNet reporters, there are 13 candidates with a total combined score of 22.5 points or higher for university admission but failed the high school graduation exam this year.

Below are cases with a total combined score of 21 points or more for university admission but failed the high school graduation exam in 2025:

According to the 2025 university and college admissions guidelines of the Ministry of Education and Training, from August 13 to 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will upload data, admission information; high school graduation exam scores; high school study results on the System; exam scores... (if any) and organize admissions.

The Ministry of Education and Training also processes the system to determine the highest wish among the wishes for which the candidate is eligible to be admitted.

By 5:00 p.m. on August 20, training institutions will enter the admission scores and admission results into the system. Review and prepare to announce the first round of admission results according to the general schedule.

Training institutions will notify candidates who have passed the first round before 5:00 p.m. on August 22.

Candidates confirm online admission for the first round on the System before 5:00 p.m. on August 30.
