(Dan Tri) - Hundreds of schools in Thai Nguyen were deeply submerged in floodwaters. Students at an isolated boarding school were rescued.

According to information from Na Ri Ethnic Boarding School, Thai Nguyen , the school is being isolated due to rising stream water. Yesterday afternoon, at the time the school was first isolated, there were more than 270 students on campus.

By 3:40 p.m. the same day, about 100 students had been moved to safety. Rescue and evacuation work is still being urgently deployed by functional forces under extremely difficult conditions.

According to the school representative, since yesterday, floodwaters have risen rapidly, causing the only road into the school to be deeply submerged and the water to flow rapidly.

Faced with the situation, the teachers guided the students to move to the second and third floors to ensure safety. Food and provisions were provided, enough for the day.

Due to the rapid rise in flood waters, many schools in the area proactively let students stay home.

Ms. Nguyen Thanh Mai, Principal of Trung Vuong Primary School, said that most schools in Thai Nguyen city (old) were flooded, many schools were deeply flooded.

“Since yesterday afternoon, the school has been flooded up to the first floor. The principal's office and the library are almost submerged in water. Staff and teachers had to quickly move their books and materials to higher ground. Last night, the water continued to rise. We don't know how far the school has been flooded because no one can go out as the whole city is flooded,” said the school principal.

According to Ms. Thanh Mai, students at the school have been off since yesterday and are expected to be off for the rest of the week because after the flood, teachers have to clean up mud, wash classrooms, desks and chairs...

Trung Vuong Primary School and many other schools in Thai Nguyen were severely flooded, with power outages in many areas of the city, so students could not study online.

Faced with the complicated developments of floods and rains, the Department of Education and Training of Thai Nguyen province has issued an urgent dispatch, requesting all educational institutions to be on duty 24/7 to closely monitor the weather situation and proactively update information to staff, teachers and students.

Since the morning of October 7, many schools in the province have proactively notified students to temporarily stop attending in-person classes, switch to online learning or take time off from school to ensure safety.

Teachers at schools organize tutorials, assign lessons, review videos and study materials via online platforms. Universities and colleges in the area also announced that students would be absent from school for the day to avoid traveling during bad weather.
