Series of hot schools in Hanoi finalize enrollment plan for grade 6

Many popular secondary schools in Hanoi announced their enrollment plans for grade 6, school year 2025-2026 with many notable new points.

According to the newly announced 6th grade enrollment information for the 2025-2026 school year, Cau Giay Secondary School enrolls 440 6th grade students, equivalent to 11 classes. The admission requirements are that students or guardians must be permanent residents or actual residents in Cau Giay district.

Compared to previous years, the school has removed the initial criteria for admission based on academic records. Last year, students had to achieve a minimum of 8 points in the final year test in Math, Vietnamese (grades 1-5) and English (grades 3-5) to be able to apply.

Students who register will only take 3 competency assessments, including Math, Vietnamese and English in the form of multiple choice and essay. The test time is 45 minutes/subject, knowledge is mainly from the 5th grade program. Scores for each subject are calculated on a scale of 10.

Registration time for Cau Giay Secondary School is from June 2 to 5:00 p.m. June 5, with a fee of VND 250,000/application. Candidates will take the exam on the morning of June 15 and receive results after 6 days.

Gifted Secondary School of the University of Education (under Hanoi National University of Education) recruits 105 students/3 6th grade classes, with two preliminary rounds and capacity assessment.

In the preliminary round, the school evaluates through the scores of the excellent student exam, the provincial talent exam and above (2-5 points, equivalent to the encouragement, third, second and first prizes) and the academic record (2 points per year for good completion, 3 points for excellent completion). Achieving a total of two criteria of 12 points or more, students are allowed to participate in the capacity assessment round.

In the competency assessment round, the content includes knowledge of cultural, artistic, and physical education subjects in the primary school curriculum, mainly in the current grade 5 curriculum. Students take the test on paper, in the form of multiple choice and essay in 120 minutes, with a maximum score of 100.

The school issues application documents from May 6 to May 26, collects application documents from May 28 to June 3, with a fee of VND 500,000/set. On June 18, the school announces the results on the website of Hanoi National University of Education.

Nguyen Tat Thanh Secondary and High School recruits 320 students, through competency assessment of 3 subjects: Math (45 minutes), Vietnamese (45 minutes), English (30 minutes) in the form of objective multiple choice combined with essay. The test content is mainly from the 5th grade program.

Competency assessment score = Math score + Vietnamese score + English score + incentive score (if any).

The school also announced that it will add bonus points to the competency assessment score for students who achieve achievements in the 2024-2025 school year. Candidates with a TOEFL Primary certificate of 228 points or higher or a city-level English Olympic or city-level Youth Informatics award will receive an additional 0.5 to 1.5 points.

In particular, the school does not calculate the transcript score into the admission score, and does not require any transcript conditions for admission.

Thanh Xuan Secondary School recruits 360 students for the 2025-2026 school year, divided equally into 9 classes through a combination of admission and capacity assessment.

Regarding the admission requirements, candidates must have scores of 9 points or higher in the final exams of Math, Vietnamese, and English. The maximum total score for the application is 10 points (2 points are counted for each school year). In which, grades 1 and 2 are calculated based on the final exams of Math and Vietnamese. Grades 3, 4, and 5 are calculated based on the final exams of English.

The school notes that each 9 points of each school year will be deducted from the total admission score by 0.25 points. Regarding priority points, candidates can be added 1-2 points depending on the subject according to the school's regulations.

Regarding the competency assessment test, the content includes Math, Vietnamese, and English from the primary school program, mainly in the 5th grade program. Candidates take an objective multiple-choice test combined with an essay, ensuring the requirements of 4 cognitive levels. Time to complete the test is 40 minutes/test.

Previously, Foreign Language Secondary School (University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) also announced its enrollment plan for grade 6 in the 2025-2026 school year. This year, the school plans to enroll 150 students (25 students/class), using two admission methods: direct admission and admission based on application documents.

In addition to the maximum of 18 direct admission targets, the remaining schools will consider admission based on documents, with the following calculation of admission scores: Admission score = Conversion score of 5-year primaryeducation results + PSA comprehensive capacity assessment test score. In which, the educational results of the school year reaching excellent; good; completed are respectively calculated as 4 points; 3 points; 1 point/school year.

The PSA (Primary school Student Assessment) is a comprehensive assessment of primary school students' abilities organized by the University of Foreign Languages, Vietnam National University in April - May. The PSA test consists of three parts: Natural Sciences and Mathematics, Social Sciences and Vietnamese and English. In which, the first two parts each have 15 questions (25 points), the English part has 30 questions (50 points). The content of the questions is in the general education program, focusing on grades 4 - 5.
