In a recent interview with tech expert Ben Thompson of Stratechery, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Meta, revealed his ambitious vision of using AI to completely change the way the advertising industry operates today.

According to Zuckerberg, Meta is getting closer to being able to fully automate the ad creation process.

"We've made significant progress in improving AI targeting. But now we're thinking about the ads themselves. What if you could produce an infinite amount of ads," Zuckerberg said.

This shows that Meta's future direction is to automatically generate photos, videos , text content and optimize ads through AI. Zuckerberg envisions a future where businesses only need to provide business goals and connect bank accounts.

Meta takes care of the rest of the process, from content creation, optimization, measurement, to ad delivery. All of this is handled by AI, without the need for demographic data, manual campaigns, or dedicated advertising teams.

This vision is what the tech world calls “infinite creativity.” A model in which AI creates, deploys, evaluates, and reproduces advertising content based on real-world performance, completely eliminating the role of traditional creative agencies.

However, Zuckerberg's announcement has been met with backlash from the media and advertising industry. A senior digital advertising executive said brand safety remains a major issue, so letting Meta create and optimize content is a concern.

In addition, the social media giant's request that businesses "just read the results they provide" makes many people doubt its transparency when very few customers can trust the results that the platform itself evaluates.

Meanwhile, others believe this is Meta's way of gradually eliminating intermediary advertising partners.

Currently, Meta still benefits greatly from small businesses, which do not have the budget for large-scale advertising campaigns. Therefore, creative AI can help this group of customers achieve high efficiency. However, one thing is certain: the development of AI is pushing the advertising industry into a period of profound change with unpredictable consequences.
