Buddhists attend the 2025 Vesak Festival at Thien Chau Pagoda (Tan An City)
At Thien Chau Pagoda (Tan An City), from 7:00 a.m. on May 12, the 15th day of the 4th lunar month, streams of people respectfully poured into the Vesak 2025 - Buddhist calendar 2569 organized by the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in the province. Monks, nuns and Buddhists unanimously chanted sutras, recited Buddha's name, and performed traditional rituals imbued with spirituality. The occasion was also a time for each person to reflect on the compassionate and wise teachings of the Buddha, thereby nurturing a life of goodness and peace.
Ms. Ho Mong Thuy Huong (Phu Ngai Tri commune, Chau Thanh district) shared: “My friends and I are all Buddhists, so whenever we have the chance, we often invite each other to the temple to worship Buddha, chant sutras and worship. It is not only a way to nurture our spiritual life but also helps us find peace in our souls”. A few days ago, she and her friends went to worship the heart relic of Bodhisattva Thich Quang Duc to feel his compassion and dedication to the Dharma and the nation.

In the evening of the same day, many people attended the Grand Ceremony at An Tho Pagoda (Tan An City) with a serious and gentle attitude. Many people participated in the Buddha bathing ceremony to purify their body and mind on Buddha's birthday. In a solemn atmosphere, each person took turns going to the altar, using a ladle to scoop up pure water, and gently pouring it on the statue of the newborn Buddha. This ritual shows deep respect, helps to wash away worries, and nurture compassion and a spirit of goodness in each person.
Ms. Tran Thi Ngoc Mai (Phu Ngai Tri commune, Chau Thanh district) expressed: “Although I am not a Buddhist, I often go to the pagoda to feel peaceful and pray for good things for my family. I feel that this year the pagodas organized the Buddha's Birthday ceremony on a large scale, solemnly and thoughtfully.”
Buddha's Birthday is an occasion for people to turn to their spiritual roots, slow down, and love more. This year, despite the harsh weather, many people happily celebrated the festival and participated in events organized by pagodas.
As a Buddhist in charge of the tea and water service at An Tho Pagoda, Ms. Huynh Ngoc Thuy (Ward 3, Tan An City) feels very happy to help Buddhists and visitors have a complete experience when coming to the pagoda. Ms. Thuy emotionally said: "I hope this year's Buddha's Birthday will spread positive energy, bringing peace and purity to the souls of all living beings."
