Solemn ceremony to receive the Certificate of special national relic of Dai Phung communal house

On the morning of February 15 (ie January 18 of the Lunar calendar), the District Party Committee - People's Council - People's Committee - Fatherland Front Committee of Dan Phuong district held a ceremony to receive the Certificate of ranking as a special national monument for Dai Phung communal house, Dan Phuong commune.

Attending the ceremony, on behalf of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, there were Deputy Director of the Department of Cultural Heritage Pham Dinh Phong and Deputy Director of the Department of Grassroots Culture Luong Duc Thang.

Dai Phung Communal House in Dai Phung Village, Dan Phuong Commune is one of the ancient and large-scale communal houses in Vietnam. Dai Phung Communal House was built in the second half of the 17th century, to worship the Holy Spirit Lich Hoa Quang Thuong Dang Than and General Vu Hung - who had the merit of defeating the enemy under the Tran Dynasty in the 14th century.

The relic site is located in the center of Dai Phung village, on a campus of 2,542 square meters. Dai Phung Communal House architecture consists of three main items: the front hall, the main worship hall and the back hall; at the right gable is an ancient well, a source of clear laterite water all year round.
Dai Phung Communal House is a particularly unique relic in that the entire original structure is made of xoan wood with a large, low roof, suitable for both space, climate and circumstances, showing that this is a creation of local residents.

The greatest value of Dai Phung communal house is expressed in the architectural and sculptural decorative themes that still retain the artistic date of the 17th century with over 1,000 motifs of high cultural and artistic value. The plastic arts of Dai Phung communal house have reached a very high level rarely seen in our country in general, and in the 17th century in particular.

With such unique and great values, on December 31, 2019, the Prime Minister signed Decision No. 1954/QD-TTg ranking Dai Phung communal house as a special national monument.

Speaking at the ceremony, comrade Nguyen Van Duc - Deputy Secretary, Chairman of Dan Phuong District People's Committee said that Dai Phung communal house is one of the most typical and unique architectural and artistic relics in the Doai region, a place to worship cultural heroes, symbolizing the strength of the nation in controlling natural disasters, floods and fighting foreign invaders. Dai Phung communal house, a lively "museum of culture and folk art", is a valuable source of material for research and study of the history and culture of the community and the nation.

According to Chairman of Dan Phuong District People's Committee Nguyen Van Duc, the district is deeply aware that the Prime Minister's decision to rank Dai Phung communal house as a special national relic is an honor and pride; at the same time, it also sets a great responsibility for the Party Committee, government and people of Dan Phuong district in preserving and promoting the value of the relic.

Thereby contributing to building an advanced Vietnamese culture, imbued with national identity, truly becoming an endogenous strength, an important driving force for the development of Dan Phuong district to become increasingly rich and civilized" - Mr. Nguyen Van Duc emphasized.
