TPO – From 7pm last night (September 14) to 1am this morning (September 15), the flood on the Cau River in Bac Ninh only receded 17cm, and the Hoang Long River only receded 10cm. Due to the very slow receding of water in the downstream rivers, flooding is forecast to continue in 8 northern provinces.
Although the flood peak has passed 2-3 days ago, the flood water level on 5 rivers including Cau River, Thuong River, Luc Nam River, Hoang Long River and Thai Binh River is still very high. At 1am this morning, the flood on Cau River in Bac Ninh was still 6.42m high, above alert level 3. The water level has only receded 17cm after 6 hours, since 7pm last night.
Hoang Long River is also on alert level 3 when the water level at 1am this morning in Ninh Binh was 4.05m, above alert level 3, only decreasing by 10cm after 6 hours.
This morning, the Thuong River in Bac Giang is 36cm below alert level 3, the Thai Binh River in Hai Duong is 12cm below alert level 2, and the Luc Nam River is 21cm below alert level 2.
It is forecasted that today, on these 5 rivers, the flood will continue to recede very slowly. Flood on Cau River at Dap Cau, Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong, Hoang Long River at Ben De will continue to be above alert level 2 and below alert level 3. Flood on Luc Nam River and Thai Binh River will be above alert level 1.

Tonight, the flood on Cau River at Dap Cau (Bac Ninh) continues to decrease but is still above alert level 2. Thuong River at Phu Lang Thuong (Bac Giang), Thai Binh River at Pha Lai (Hai Duong), Hoang Long River at Ben De (Ninh Binh) continues to decrease and is above alert level 1 - below alert level 2. The flood on Luc Nam River at Luc Nam continues to decrease and is at alert level 1.
With the above flood developments, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting assessed that flooding will still occur in low-lying areas, low-lying areas along rivers, and alluvial areas outside the main dike in the provinces/cities of Hanoi, Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Thai Binh, Ha Nam, and Hai Duong.
In Hanoi, the water receding time in low-lying areas along the Bui River in Chuong My district is from 9-10 days, along the Tich River about 6-7 days, downstream of the Ca Lo River 2-3 days, and the Nhue River from 1-2 days.
In the provinces of Bac Giang, Bac Ninh, Ha Nam, Ninh Binh, Nam Dinh, Hung Yen, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, the water drainage time will last from 3-5 days, in areas that do not actively drain, it will likely last longer.
The National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting continues to issue a level 3 disaster risk warning (major disaster risk) due to floods on Cau River and Hoang Long River, and a level 2 disaster risk warning due to floods on Thuong River, Luc Nam River and Thai Binh River.
In the mountainous areas of the North, although the rain has decreased for many days, the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting continues to warn of the risk of landslides on steep slopes.
