The shimmering "Night on Hoai Giang River"

The "Hoai River Night" live performance took place on the Hoai River (Hoi An City) on the evening of April 10th, with three main parts: "Reunion - Love Encounter", "Colors of the Hoai River", and "Moonlight on the Hoai River".

The program is a blend of various traditional folk music forms such as hò khoan (a type of folk singing), Quang Nam folk songs, and bai choi folk songs, combined with sound and light effects and performances that reflect the rich local culture. This allows visitors and viewers to easily appreciate the rich history, culture, and people of Hoi An and Quang Nam.

During the 30-minute art performance, a large crowd of locals and tourists stood packed together on An Hoi Bridge and on both banks of the Hoai River (from An Hoi Bridge to the area opposite the Japanese Bridge - where the performance took place) to get the best view and hear the performances up close.

Many choirs also came to watch, and most were surprised and delighted by the novelty and attractiveness of the artistic program, especially amidst the shimmering, magical atmosphere of the Hoai River.

Nathan Inkhong, a member of the YES choir from Thailand, shared that this was the first time he had enjoyed such a unique and fascinating art performance. It helped him better understand the land and people of Hoi An, with its rich and diverse history and culture.

"As you know, Thailand also has many attractive tourist products, but none are quite like this art program. It's truly impressive and unique!" - Nathan Inkhong remarked.

Launched in 2022, the "Hoi Giang Night" live performance has become a unique nighttime tourism product in Hoi An, where visitors step into a world of vibrant sounds and colors; experiencing community activities and entertainment that have been taking place here for hundreds of years.

However, due to various factors, the "Night at Hoai Giang" program is not performed frequently, only occasionally taking place during major cultural and tourism events to serve locals and tourists.

Ms. Truong Thi Ngoc Cam, Director of the Culture, Sports and Information Center of Hoi An City, said that with its folk art elements, "Hoai Giang Night" is not just a simple cultural tourism product, but also a space for art and creativity to introduce folk music melodies and traditional crafts to tourists from near and far.

Therefore, organizing the "Hoi Giang Night" live performance during the International Choral Competition is also a way to introduce to art troupes and international friends the unique values that the heritage land of Hoi An has been preserving and promoting effectively throughout its history.
