On the morning of August 15, sharing about this case, doctors at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases said that Mr. TVN (54 years old, residing in Da Nang ) had been examined, had X-rays, and had tests at many hospitals in the country but could not find the disease. Recently, he went to the US for examination and blood tests but could not find the cause of the continuous high fever of 39.5-40 degrees. In addition, he also had headaches, chills, poor appetite but had not coughed for over a year.
Mr. N had a history of lymphoma that had been treated and stabilized. Tormented by high fevers and ineffective fever-reducing drugs, Mr. N lost weight from 67 kg to only 49 kg. When he was almost desperate, he listened to his brother's advice and packed his bags with his daughter from Da Nang to the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases to find a treatment opportunity.

Through examination and testing, doctors found that the "culprit" causing Mr. N's persistent fever was the simultaneous combination of three agents: Epstein-Barr virus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, and Aspergillus fungus.
A chest CT scan showed that he had dilated alveoli in the area between his lungs and a mediastinal lymph node of about 22 mm, indicating that the underlying cause was causing damage to his lungs. “After identifying three pathogens at the same time, we combined antibiotics and antifungal drugs according to the antibiogram, covering all the causes,” said Dr. Le Van Thieu, Department of General Infections.
According to Dr. Thieu, Mr. N had to face three extremely dangerous “attackers” at the same time. Each “attacker” was strong enough to cause serious illness, but when combined, they made the condition persistent and life-threatening.
After 3 days of treatment, Mr. N's health improved significantly. After 1 week, his fever was gone and he ate better. After 2 weeks, Mr. N gained 54 kg and his health recovered.
