Ut Lan: Oan linh chua cu released a dark, spooky teaser trailer, taking the audience back in time to the West in the late 90s - where horrifying customs and creepy folk legends are still deeply ingrained in people's minds.
The film revolves around the character Lan (Phuong Thanh) - a young orphan girl who works as a maid in the remote house of Mr. Danh (Mac Van Khoa) - a widower who lives alone.
It seemed like her new life would be peaceful, but Lan quickly fell into a living nightmare, when strange phenomena occurred one after another, leading to a series of mysterious deaths that shook the village.
Mac Van Khoa breaks free from the silly comedy, playing the role of a strange landlord..
The trailer opens with a scene of a quiet moonlit night, foggy paths and eerie sounds creeping into every corner of the old house. Lan follows the figure in the fog, and then freezes before the horrifying scene that no one dares to imagine. Is a vengeful spirit or some kind of evil ritual coming back to life?
The villagers rumored that Mr. Danh’s wife, Mrs. Mai, had hit her head against a rock to death, but the truth was that she had run away in despair from “something” that was not human. The deeper Lan and Son (Quoc Truong), a horror writer, dug, the more they discovered the legend of the treasure-keeping ghost: an evil spell used to cast a spell on the soul to keep the treasure, causing anyone who entered illegally to meet a tragic end.
Not only arousing curiosity with its folk-style script and thrilling spiritual elements, the film also surprised fans with the spectacular "role-changing" between Quoc Truong and Mac Van Khoa. If Quoc Truong transformed into a smart, cold writer, Mac Van Khoa escaped from the silly comedy, playing the role of a strange landlord, hiding many dark secrets.

Another notable highlight is the appearance of young actress Phuong Thanh, born in 2001 – who beat out over 100 competitors to win the lead role in her debut film. Although she is a new face, Phuong Thanh’s performance in the trailer surprised many people with her haunting eyes and emotional expressions.
Ut Lan: Oan linh chua cu promises to be the most worth-watching Vietnamese horror film of the summer of 2025, not only because of the breathtakingly creepy scenes, but also because of the combination of folk elements, regional culture and multi-layered spiritual stories.
