Madonna sued by audience for compensation for... performing late!

The new lawsuit against Madonna, filed on January 17 in New York and obtained by CNN on January 18, accuses her of false advertising after the singer began a three-night concert at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn last month at 10:30 p.m. The show's promotional poster had previously stated that the show would start at 8:30 p.m.

The lawsuit claims that most concertgoers left the stage after 1 a.m. each night, causing them significant inconvenience, including "being faced with limited public transportation, limited carpooling, and/or increased public transportation costs at that late hour."

“In addition, many people who purchased tickets to the concert on a weeknight had to get up early to go to work and/or take care of family responsibilities the next day,” the complaint reads.

The lawsuit names Madonna as a defendant, along with tour operator Live Nation Worldwide, Inc, the Brooklyn Event Center, LLC, which operates as Barclays Center...

The class of plaintiffs includes ticket holders for Madonna's U.S. tour. The plaintiffs are seeking an undisclosed amount of damages at trial.

“Defendants collected concert ticket purchases from Plaintiffs and other entities who had reasonable cause to believe that the concert would begin promptly at 8:30 p.m. If Plaintiffs and the entities had known that the concert would begin at 10:30 p.m., they would never have agreed to purchase tickets,” the complaint reads.

Plaintiffs involved in the proposed class action "seek judgment against defendants for actual damages resulting from the delay."

The Brooklyn concerts in question were set to take place on December 13, 14 and 16, 2023, marking the start of the North American leg of The Celebration Tour . The shows were originally scheduled for July 2023 but were rescheduled due to Madonna's hospitalization last June after suffering a serious bacterial infection.

This isn't the first time Madonna has faced legal trouble for starting shows late.

In 2019, during her Madame X tour, the pop icon was similarly sued for starting her show at 10:30 p.m.

Nate Hollander, who attended Madonna's Madame X tour concert in Miami in December 2019, alleges that the singer and Live Nation Worldwide changed the original scheduled start time of the show from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

The lawsuit alleges that changing the start time of Madonna's Madame X show was a breach of contract between the singer and ticket holders. Hollander later tried unsuccessfully to get a refund for three tickets to the show.
