In a statement on January 9, MMEA Director General Admiral Mohd Rosli Abdullah said that the application of AI technology will improve operational efficiency and the use of modern technology in protecting national security.
He believes that AI is a new approach that needs to be looked at as the technology plays a catalytic role in reforming the operations of the MMEA.
In 2025, MMEA is allocated a budget of USD 88.85 million for repair and maintenance of maritime and aviation assets.
The MMEA Director General stressed the importance of strategic partnerships with foreign law enforcement agencies including Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore as well as the US Coast Guard and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
“Close cooperation is crucial in enhancing the security of our country’s maritime domain against transnational threats, including sharing information on cases of illegal immigration into Malaysia,” he said.
